#178540, "28 week shocker"
|
i just got back from my 28 week apointment, and the ultrasound teck discovered a 4th baby! it took an hour of the doctor doing an ultrasound before he would admit that there was another baby, but he finally agreed with the teck. my husband and i are in total shock! we don't know what sex the forth is, becasue b and c's legs are in the way, but we do know that all four babies are in the normal range for size and heartbeats. they are all in their own little sacks. and i'm still doing great, no issues or contractions so far. doctor says i still have a great chance to make it to 36 weeks. i am thinking of cutting work back to half days though, getting kinda tired LOL doctor says that i can quit at anytime wiht his full support.
my blood pressure is up a little today though, gee i wonder why LOL
has this happened to anyone else? i mean, i would have thought they would have detected the other baby sooner! <a href="http://lilypie.com/"><img src=" " width="400" height="80" border="0" alt="Lilypie Fifth Birthday tickers" /></a>

It didn't happen to me, but I did want to say congratulations on two fronts.
You're going to be parents of quads! Amazing!! I know there are a few parents of quads and higher here but it is much more rare than triplets. Very special.
Also congratulations on carrying quads to 28 weeks without any issues! You must just be doing all the right things. Whatever it is you've been doing, keep it up, and yes, rest up! I made it to 2 days shy of 28 weeks with my three so I think it is great you're passed that with 4.
Not being in your situation exactly (I have 4 kids, but not quads!) I think you should just go with the idea of 4 times the love, rather than the 3 times the love you were expecting. Maybe that will help the shock wear off!

Wow! That IS a shock!! I didn't have that happen, but I DID have quads. I found out at the first ultrasound at 6˝ weeks, though.
Congratulations! Quads are a handfull (make that TWO hands full), but are SO much fun!
Just be forewarned, though, you may deliver a bit earlier than 36 weeks. I think your doctor is being optimistic in hopes you will be, too. I do know of one woman who had hers at 35 weeks, and that's pretty amazing! I had mine at 28 weeks & 5 days, which the doctor said was about normal gestation for quads. I think 30-32 weeks is generally considered "normal" for quads. But have no fears, most quads born this early do quite well. Mine are all very healthy, normal 4-year-olds (5 in June)!
You'll be fine! Best wishes on a longer and healthy pregnancy!

I always ask at my ultrasounds "Are you sure there isn't a 4th in there?" because I'm so paranoid. I can't even imagine your shock right now!!

Oh my Gosh, I can not believe it. Its funny because in early ultrasounds that we had it was a lot clearer to see that there were only 3, although at our 28 and 30wk US it was much harder as there were just arms and legs everywhere.
Wow, you are doing so well to get this far "CONGRATULATIONS" Well if your friends and family were shocked that you were having 3 I can't imagine how shocked they are are now.
