You really need a triplet stroller to get out and about when
they are older, you can only care them in a Bjorn for a short
time, they get heavy after a while. I prefered my inline to
the triple side by side, which is way too big to go most
places that are confined BBG 6/21/06

We got a triple, mostly out of necessity. Hubby deploys
shortly after the babies are born so if I want to go anywhere
it will be helpful having all of them in the stroller. I'm
also looking for a used double for short outings with the
carrier, but there's no getting around having the triple for
me. Obviously my babies aren't born yet so I can't speak for
how often I'll use it (we have the Peg Perego Triplette), but
I see myself putting it to good use. ~BGG Born October 6, 2011 @ 34 Weeks~

I have 2 older kids who I tried to use the bjorn and other
carriers and they all bothered my neck. So right from the
get-go we knew all 3 babies would be in a stroller. We did
the triple decker while they were in their infant carseats.
I highly recommend the triple decker as I was able to go out
several times a week with it and was able to juggle everyone
using it by myself. We have since moved onto the Mountain
Buggy (no longer made but can be found on craigslist) and our
choo-choo wagon. Yes, I take my choo-choo to go shopping. We
are also looking into getting an inline stroller for an
upcoming trip.
You have to ask yourself if you will be comfortable wearing a
carrier and shuffling 2 babies into the stroller. Also, can
you care for the other 2 if need be while wearing one? Are
you going to go out a lot by yourself? Some moms don't and
get by fine with a double. Do you have room for a triple
stroller in your car? Some babies don't like being in
carriers...what then?

I basically got by without one for the first 9 months, or so,
but most of that time was winter or the early super
sleep-deprived stage. I just arranged for a helper for the
occasional doctor visit. But from 9 months on, I have been
using both my Runabout and choo choo wagon on an almost daily
basis. I use the Runabout for walks around our neighborhood
and keep the wagon stowed in our minivan for trips anywhere
else--library, store, park, zoo, child care drop offs, you
name it.
We also have 3 umbrella strollers (with a set of links to
hook them together) that we use for road trips or the rare
occasion when DH is available.

Most people seem to love their triplet strollers, so I'm in
the minority for sure, but I hated mine. We had a triple
decker and it worked fine, if you have to have a stroller
it's great in the early days for getting infants to doctor's
appointments and such. I just found it so cumbersome -
difficult to turn, barely fits in even a large elevator - and
I HATED all the looky-loos who would come over to gawk and
comment when they saw it. But I live in a small, rural
community so people just don't see triplets commonly around
here. If you live in a larger community, especially if you
live in a subdivision and have nice paved sidewalks and all
that, you would probably love to have a stroller to take them
out on daily walks etc.
For me, we hardly went anywhere for the first year, mainly
just to doctor's appointments, and after the first couple of
outings with the triple decker, I decided to divide and
conquer if only to minimize the public attention factor. I
used a double stroller and Bjorn most of the time. As they
get heavier, it is more cumbersome but can be done for about
the first 9 months, in my opinion. Then you could do a
backpack & double stroller, but I usually did a double +
single and brought another adult to help me out when I did
need to take all 3 out together. Now they are 2.5 and pretty
much hate to be strapped in a stroller, so they can walk
holding my hands if we are going a short distance, or 2 in
the stroller and 1 walking.
It really depends on your needs and how much you generally
like to be out and about, whether you need to be able to take
them out by yourself on a regular basis, etc. In hindsight, I
wish we hadn't jumped into buying the triple decker, it wasn't
the best solution for our family. DS 03/06 BBB 03/09 @ 35 weeks, 1 day Baby A - 5 lbs 1 oz Baby B - 6 lbs 8 oz Baby C - 4 lbs 5 oz

If you know you will always have another adult with you, I
suggest a double and a single. Most triplet strollers are
big and will limit where you can go. If you know you will
have to take the kids out on your own, get a triplet
stroller. I have the Peg Perego triplet stroller, the Baby
Jogger triplet jogger, and the Choo Choo wagon.
The Peg Perego is great for doctor's offices, and malls, and
places where the sidewalks are narrower. I prefer the jogger
for walking around. The choo choo had to wait until they were
older, and now that they are three, they are getting to be a
little too heavy for that choo choo.
Also, make sure your car can fit the stroller. The Peg is a
little challenging to fit into most cars while most joggers
can fit many cars.

I thought the triple stroller was an essential piece of
equipment. I've had several types of triple strollers for
the kids at different ages and for different situations, and
don't regret any of them.
I could never do the infant carrier and double stroller
because: 1) it took forever to get my back and abdominal
muscles back into shape after bedrest and the C-section,
2)I'm short waisted so the babies didn't fit well on my
torso, 3)it was too hard to take care of the other two babies
while wearing one (like diapering, burping, picking up a
crying baby, etc).
I was out all the time with the babies (later toddlers and
early preschoolers) in the strollers, on my own with no help.
It was great for us... we were never stir crazy or bored, and
there is no way I could have done it without strollers.
Favorites: Inglesina and Runabout due to easy to push,
comfort for babies, and fits through doors and into
handicapped bathroom stalls.
Runner Up: Foundations triple tandum (can't use it with
newborns as it doesn't recline enough, and can't use it much
after they are 2- 2 1/2 years old due to too heavy). Was very
easy to fold/unfold and not too heavy.
