Gina, I posted on the main forum under you. I have found that with family rather than strangers, that they just don't want to take the time to get to know this precious soul who was sent to us. It bothers me, but it TRUELY is their loss and their ignorance.
The only way you can hurt me, is to hurt my kids! I'm feeling ya momma'! Kelly

Gina, I responded on the main forum also. I'm sure I will be flamed but I don't care. That rubbed me the wrong way.
There is a line in "Welcome to Beirut" about what it's like to have a child with autism. But it can apply to anyone who has a special needs child.... it goes...
"You will know sorrow like few others and yet you will know joy above joy. You will meet dirty faced angels on playgrounds who are kind to your child without being told to be. "
That always warms my heart... that I hope that there are children out there (and adults too) that care enough to CARE and don't see a special needs child as inferior.
Hang in there! Ann

I didn't read the post on the main forum, but I can relate to the feelings that you posted here. One of my triplets has CP, and I so want her to "fit in" in all environments. Some of my family members keep asking me when she will walk normal (meaning flat footed). I get frustrated explaining her diagnosis to them, and I get even more angry when my mom tells her to walk flat!! I will remind her if I see her walking up high for a lengthy amount of time, but it is not my mother's place to do that. I have overheard some children asking her about her AFOs and so far she is taking it in stride. Wow...I am really ranting here, so I will stop my own pity party now.
Just know that you are safe here. I need to post here more often again too. I like everyone on this forum.
Take care! Lori

Wow.....I just read the post on the main forum. I said I wouldn't, but I did anyway. I don't even know how to comment about that. It is hurtful to me also. Big hugs to you!! Keep your chin up. Lori
