I have a friend who has friends in the Phoenix area who are in need of some emotional and practical support plus DR referrals. Let me see if I can sum this up briefly.
There's a lady in Phoenix (the friend of my friend) named Robin. Robin is looking to raise her grandchildren- a 14 month old girl and a little boy (I forget his age right now) Both children have been abused and neglected extensively by their birth mother (Robin's daughter.) The little girl, R., is showing possible early symptoms of autism,her mother was using drugs and alcohol during her pregnancy with R. and they think she may have fetal alcohol syndrome. She was also physically abused by her mother, resulting in, among other things, a broken collarbone.
Robin needs some advice, support and the names of great DRs and numbers for referral to early intervention services. She is looking to get total custody of both R and her brother E. E's situation is not much better than his sisters'.
If anyone has any info for me, it would be GREATLY appreciated. Any support groups for Robin, or just a friend for coffee would be a Godsend as well. Please email me at heavensentme5@yahoo.com or here at TC.

I hope everything is going well with you I hope you can find some referrals and support for your friend. Have you posted this on the main board ? I think you would probably get a lot more responses there.
