Katie,

That was WONDERFUL! You have totally inspired me! I once started a video like that, but it was more negative and I deleted it. I am inspired to make a new one for family and friends.... that last picture brought me to tears. (BTW - ABA did wonders for Kyle - I highly recommend it!!!!)

Good job!!!

Kate,

You so inspired me that I made a video of Kyle. However, I totally stole most everything from you. I'm so hoping you don't mind much. I figure the more we get the word out there the better.

Here's the link to the video. I was going to put it on the main forum but I wanted your okay first... since you did it first. If we put it on the main board, I would definitely tell everyone I got it from your idea. Let me know what you think...

Katie,

Thanks! I sent it to my address book and my pastor asked if he could use it in our church service. I thought that was cool!

Kate and Ann,
i LOVE your videos, they are both so moving and hit right to the core, especially for those of us who are in the thick of it.

I just have one question--I think I know what you mean, maybe its just a matter of semantics, but I found one thing interesting in both your videos. You both mentioned things like: "typically affecting children between the ages of 18 months to 5 years" and "affects children under the age of 5". I imagine you mean that this age frame is when the diagnosis usually occurs--but from the wording I read it to mean that it only affects children between those ages. It might be even more poignant to clarify that its *diagnosed* between those ages, however the autism actually AFFECTS them, and their families for the rest of their lives. Granted, we hope they can learn to cope and manage and integrate into society, but as a mom with an almost 6 year old with autism, i feel we are still SERIOUSLY affected by his autism on a daily basis, and will continue to be for years to come.
Sorry, its really not a big deal, its probably just in how i read both of your inscriptions on your videos, maybe i interpreted it wrong.
but both your videos brought tears to my eyes, they are wonderful, and you are great mom's for getting word out in such a dramatic way that will raise awareness for autism.
thank you both--and sorry to be nit-picky, just had to get it off my chest i guess!!

Meg,thanks for the thoughts!! I actually "borrowed" some of those quotes from some of the autism websites, but I think you are exactly right. I will see what I can do to change some of my wording because I totally agree with what you are saying.

You're right. I should change that! Plus my pastor wants to use it in church and I should be more clear as it is an "educational" tool for the congregation.

Thanks!!
