#1195, "Tackle Football"

So my other problem is my boys are tackling each other at every spare minute. All of a sudden all they want to do is tackle each other and wrestle. Sometimes the one tackled loves it sometimes not. They both do it to each other. And unfortunately to their sister. Who does NOT appreciate it.

I feel like I can't run errands with them anymore. Unless I am completely focusing on them they are so busy messing around and tackling each other that it's just ridiculous.

Today I was at the dealership getting a couple of service issues lined up. I could hardly talk with the guy who was trying to explain things to me. They were so busy running around and chasing each other right around my legs.

I would tell them to stop. And they would for 3 seconds until I was no longer paying complete attention to them making them stop. They didn't get to have a treat after lunch (which was what I threatened them with) and they didn't seem to care at all.

My lovely dd just sat in a chair so nicely the whole time. I know that boys will be boys but COME ON.

Any tips? Thoughts? People going through the same thing?

I totally hear ya! I feel like sometimes they won't listen unless I do the ugly yell, lmao. And obviously that is not appropriate for public use, so I just try the "Oh no, this is so sad." Or "they have a time out here, but it is far away in the dark. Do you need to go to their time out or can we behave". Sound bad to write it out, but it usually works.

If my guys have all my focus they are fine. But a little freedom sometimes can really make them little firecrackers!

LOL! My ugly yell seems to be the only thing that works sometimes too. I HATE using it and feel like the WORST mom when I have to bring it out. Hopefully this is a phase they out grow soon. I feel like my well behaved kids are hellions lately.

LOL! Welcome to my day....

I've been bribing mine....sometimes it's a video on the way home, lunch at Chick Fil A, a sucker, computer time, the park, whatever - I do get tired of having to bribe them to act like little humans instead of cartoon characters but whatever it takes right?

Hi,
I can't offer any suggestions but I can tell you that you are not alone!!!!!!!

My husband tought them tackle right before they turned two. OMG it never stops!

The only up side is when someone does get hurt they all hug him and kiss his "boo boo" for the rest of the day. -so cute!

OMG This is a huge thing at our house right now. I don't know where the WWF moves come from since they've never seen a second of that crap! It's amazing how they get in to it. They have this unspoken language and just go at it and no one gets hurt, most times.

The football is another huge thing and yep, they're tackling. It's crazy how this is so natural to them.

Ryley has started getting in on the act lately and she can definitely hold her own against her brothers. She can tackle with the best of them. It's funny to watch.

Guess just let them get it out of their system at home..that's what we do. Boys, gotta love em!

Isn't it? It just kind of showed up! And I really don't mind if they do it when they are at home. It's when we are out in public that it really makes me crazy!

Yes that's the worst. They tried to do it at the restaurant the other day, getting under the table to get at each other. NO WAY MEN - keep it at home!! Gawd!

At our house it is rear naked chokes and ankle locks! Thankfully they have not started doing it in public but love to take each other down at home!

Usually when my kids start to act up in public I resort to bribery. It isn't pretty, but it seems to work w/ them. They will do almost anything for gum or a sucker.

Julie~last night Slater tackled Jack down to the floor. It was really funny because he was clearly wrestling playfully but Jack wasn't aware of that. At our house I blame Dad and big brother for all of their aggressive behavior. They are always doing all of that guy crap and the babies are always watching. It makes me crazy! As a PP said, I would try bribing them with a treat when in public.

Hysterical. They do learn from each other. You and Sis will have to stick together.

Today that got a tootsie roll for standing nicely in the check out line at Old Navy. Apperently I just need to become a vending machine.
