#2617, "MY BABIES ARE OFFICIALLY TRIPLETS!"

I wanted to share something that really warmed my heart and caused me a tear or two yesterday, and I knew that you all would understand.

Yesterday afternoon our nanny took the kiddos into the $.99 Store and a couple of ladies commented on the "beautiful children." (Frankly, I think they were curious about my Hispanic friend with the blue-eyed blonde little girl and her compadre and couldn't think of a nicer way to ask personal questions, but ah well...)

Anyway, one of the ladies asked Caeleigh, "How old are you?" Caeleigh says, "I'm three," and holds up three fingers. They ask Caidan the same question and get the same response.

"Oh, are you brother and sister??"
"Yes."

"Are you twins?"
Caeleigh says, "No, we're triplets."

"Is the other one a girl or a boy?"
"A girl," says Caeleigh.

"Where is she?"
"She's in heaven with God," says Caeleigh.
"And her name is Carina," says Caidan.

The ladies were so impressed and told our nanny, "Wow, they know that they're triplets and that they have a sister. How sweet."

My heart was so happy to hear of this, in a bittersweet kind of way. They know that they are triplets and that they have a sister named Carina, and they also stand up for her and love her. She is real to them, just as she is real to me.

It leaves me wanting to cry, but if it is at all possible, these are nearly tears of joy and not simply tears of grief -- although there is still a bit of that included, too.

I guess this comes under the heading of "it gets easier," in some strange way, huh?

Fondly,
Cat w/3 Kittens

Oh Cat...that is so awesome to hear! You are a wonderful wonderful person. You have taught your children about love & the love that you have for Carina. They love her so much. I think that is so beautiful that they understand & will tell people that they are triplets.

Carina is very real! I'm smiling thinking about what wonderful kiddos you have. Much love to you all...

Oh Cat! That is so great! I wish I had that. We can't even get my 11 year old stepson to remember our triplets names. I also think that you have done an amazing job teaching them to understand that they are triplets.

I love that!!! How wonderful that you can share that love with your babies! I know that the more people that say my boys' names- the better. It makes me feel so good when people talk about my boys. But most people just stay as far away from the topic as they can. - They don't know any better, do they?
God bless you Cat!

Oh, I soooo understand that feeling.

When people make a fuss over my quads, my 6 year old surviving twin will pipe up with "and I'M a twin and my brother is Danny and he's in heaven".

He is so proud to talk about his twin brother.

Cat, that's great - what a job you've done with them. My boys talk about their brother but one talks much more often about him. Just the other day there was a big discussion of where they all would sit in the car if Brendan were here (kind of funny).

My other boy has said to me that he doesn't mind when someone calls him a twin. Kind of took me aback, I'll have to stay sensitive to him in this, I think.

I'm proud of your little ones and I know you are too.

Marie

Cat,

That is a wonderful!.

I too just had a similar experience. We were shopping and I go the usual 'are they twins' question. I typically answer yes to keep things short. My Charlie looks straight at the woman and says 'we're triplets!'. She kind of gave an odd smile and looked at me confused. So, then I said 'Yes - Charlie is absolutely right - they are triplets!' and I explained to her.

I guess I have to start changing my answers to strangers.

I think its great that your kids know about Carina.
