#140, "Triple Decker"
|
Hello, I have a question about the Triple Decker stroller (www.doubledeckerstroller.com). I don't plan on leaving the house much with the triplets, but I know that at least once a week we will be attending church as a family and I'm sure family events will arise where we will be expected to all attend (holidays,bdays,etc.). I really like the Triple Decker travel system because I don't have to take the babies out of the car seat to get them inside. Seems like a nice set up when the babies are young (maybe even up until 6-7 months) at which time I plan to switch to a "real" stroller and I'm pretty sold on the Peg. I don't like the Peg triplet for a travel system though because you can only snap in 2 car seats and I really need to snap in all 3 babies (I have 3 other children, including a 2 year old, to round up and I don't have any free hands!)
Has anyone used the Triple Decker travel system? Likes/Dislikes?
God Bless! Laura

Laura,
Love your handle....
We have the TD and a Runabout. We love the TD for travelling for all the reasons you mentioned. Our babies are now 18 months old and still using it (they are on the small side). We use the seats that have detachable bases that stay strapped into the car (major convenience feature!!!). It is great to be able to detach the babies from the car and install them directly into the stroller. It is especially nice when they are asleep (you don't have to wake them to transfer them back and forth). It provides significant productivity too. We can all (we also have six kids) dismount the vehicle, set up the stroller, install the babies, and move out in under two minutes!
The TD is easily our most valuable baby accessory. I would buy again it without hesitation (and probably at a higher price). I will be sorry to see it go when they finally outgrow it...
We also like the Runabout. It is seriously ugly but it is a workhorse and very sturdy. Even our five year old can push it over most terrain. We bought a quad unit used and have not regretted it for a minute. It easily carries the babies, the five year old, and a pile of gear...
Yours in Christ Jesus,
John

Hi Laura:
We used the Peg when the kids were a bit bigger, and on actual 'strolls', we used a double with the seats folded flat while our trio were very small. For doc appts and church, etc, my dh and I just carried the infant car seats in. It was quicker than getting the stroller out and set up, etc. It did get pretty heavy after a while, but it worked for us. GOOD LUCK! (another) Laura, mom of ggb's 7/99

Laura, We have both the triple decker and the runabout. We also have a single and double seperate strollers. We LOVED the triple decker. I looked at every triplet stroller when I was pregnent and for all the reasons you mentioned we decided to go with this one. It made life so much easier to move them directly from the car to the stroller without waking them. They have now outgrown it and we use the single/double for most outtings they bring much less attention. You will be amazed ( I was overwhelmed) by how much attention you will get with triplets . We are actually getting ready to sell ours if you live in southern california and are interested, let us know.
Good Luck and God Bless, Shelly Kim Mother to B/B/B/ trips 9/03
