#335, "Weekly Updates...."

Hi! This board can get a little slow-moving so I thought we might want to try a weekly update! Just a note about what's new with you and your family. Feel free to brag about your sweeties too!

I'll start. The week is going to be busy. My ten-year-old son is gearing up for a fifth grade writing assessment in a few weeks. The teacher is really pushing the essay-writing skills. I think the "light has gone on!" with my son so I'm hoping he'll do well. It's hard for him to just get all those thoughts down on paper.

The triplets are in first grade and just chugging along. Just the homework routine.

I sign all four boys up for swim team on Wednesday. My older son has been swimming for two years but it's the first time for my triplets. We'll see how it goes! It will be expensive. About $190 per child for the team and bathing suit. Don't forget the $100 swim parkas they need too. At least they'll be good swimmers by the end of the summer!

Hope all is well with everyone else on the board!

Sharon

Wow, everything is so expensive!

This past weekend, my DH and I went away overnight for the first time since our boys were born (they'll be five!). We've both been away, but not together. Grandma and grandad moved in overnight, and we were away 27 hours, but who's counting-LOL! We had a great time, the best part I think was drinking coffee in bed, watching the news on Sunday morning! No baby to take care of or fights to break up. Heaven. It was so funny how the boys thought this was the worst idea they ever heard of. Didn't like it one bit. But once we were gone, they were fine. Of course, talking about expensive, our little getaway was over $500! But worth every penny.

Well I would love to post saying that everything was swell and back to our regular routine at our house but I hate to say that the last few very busy weeks has caught up with us. I have 3 sick little girls at home. They are coughing and sniffling. Throats are sore and are all running temps of around 100.3. We've been loading up on Dimetapp & Advil since yesterday morning. Ya know they should make those bottles bigger for parents of multiples. by the time you give each kid their alloted dose. By the end of the day, you almost need a new bottle. LOL! I've been keeping an eye on them, and suspect it is just a virus but will take them in if they are not better by Wed. or if they get any worse then sooner. So here I sit at my computer watching 3 sleeping "angels" while Rugrats is playing on the TV. It's soooooo QUIET! I HATE them being sick and hurting but I have to admit the quiet is nice for awhile.

It going to be one of those weeks I can tell. One of the local teachers here died this weekend from a heart attack. She was only in her mid 40's. Her daughter is in 2nd grade with my DS. She also had a boy in High School and she taught Jr. High math. It's so tragic! She coached my DS soccer & T-ball teams. She touched so many of the children's lives around here. They will be letting school out sometime this week for the funeral. My DS has asked to go to the viewing (he does okay with those as I have not tried to shelter him too much) As for the funeral, I am worried that with so many people upset and crying. It may be too much for him but I will leave the decision up to him to make.

Sorry for such a downer of a weekly update. But it was a "vent" for me as well. I hope to post the next weekly update with a much sweeter outlook with lovely thoughts that spring is just around the corner.

Great Idea Sharon. It's a nice way to catch up or get to know the people on this board.

Well its almost the end of February and it hasn't slowed down around here. The boys had opening day for tball on Saturday along with their first game. Then a birthday party at Chuck-e-cheese. Thank heaven I was at the Scrapbook Expo... DH was a little freaked at the RAT Place cuase it was crowded. What do you want for a Saturday and raining to boot. The weather here is yucky.. very rainy so I am hoping for sunshine real soon. The boys are in tap and learing a new routine for the show in June. We are going to camping at the beach this weekend, so we hope the rain is gone by then. I've been busy with the kids, my mulitples club and work. We just got bought out by Cingular. I work for At&t Wireless so does DH... so were a little concerned about having jobs next year. It's hard to believe my boys are five already and will be in kindergarden seven month from now. They start swim lessons in June for 4th year. It should be fun.

Great Idea! Well my Girls are 4 now and they are going back to Ballet school on Wednesday-I found one nearby that is affordable and doesn't toss you out for acting your age! They will also be playing t-ball starting next month. That should be a hoot! It's a team made up of multiples and some siblings. My DS ,who is 28 months, will be upset that he's too little to play. Well, if Abby gets tossed for hitting someone with the bat, McLean can take her place! He's actually larger than his 4 yr old sister. I took them all to the library today for storytime. They did pretty well-I was shocked. We may do that regularly now. I love adderall-Abby is taking it and it's so much easier to go out now that I know she can control herself better. Henry is developing so rapidlya nd doing so well. I am so proud of him. (He has Down Syndrome.) He can sit up on his own now, gets into sitting by himself sometimes, says "hi" "mama" "dada" and "RaRa"(Robin). He started to wave goodbye this week too. He is completely on solids now and picked up using a cup in just 24 hours. I am trying to get him onto cow's milk but it was upsetting his tummy. So, still nursing for now. McLean , my 2 yr old, is speaking on a 3-4 yr old level-he just amazes me. I need to find some more activities for him and some boys his age to play with. (I have a friend with b/b/b triplets his age-we need to get together more.) It's raining today so we are stuck in the house again. I guess that's it for us.
I'm waiting a bit longer before we go to Chuck E.Cheese-we went a few months ago and Robin was terrified by the RAT-she thought it was a BEAR!!!LOLOL Mclean wouldn't stop following him around then looked confused when he saw a 2nd one! (I told him they were twins-he seemed satisfied with that answer.) hee hee

Great idea, I love hearing about everybodies lives!

Around here things are hectic as usual, I sew costumes for a dance school so I'm under the gun to get them completed soon. DH broke his fingers at work on Fri so he's home for a month which is a mixed blessing. I finally have an appt on Thurs with a specialist about my arthritis, hopefully get some treatment for it. (sewing with arthritis is no fun) Tonight I'm going to a movie with a friend, and Wed night I play on a dart league.

Sabrina has ballet on tues and tap fri, the boys will try tae kwon do this week and Nate has speech tomorrow, we have school every day, fit in playdates and errands and no wonder I'm exhausted every night!

I agree this is a great idea!

I am planning my trio's 4th birthday next week. This year we are going to Chuck e Cheese. We are doing the party next tuesday night so the restaurant shouldnt be too crowded. Every body has been well this winter so far, we are in Ga. One of my biggest problems is getting the boys potty trained at night! Madison has been for months, but the boys are nowhere near! I am so tired of diapers, wet training pants, wet pj's and wet beds! My goal is to get them finished before this summer when I plan on moving them to twin beds, they sleep in toddler beds now.
The next problem is my older ds's mouth. He is 15, knows it all, does no wrong, etc....
Boy do I dread this stage with the triplets, augh!!!!

Kris, if it's any consolation, my son is 4 and is not fully trained either. He will go if we tell him, but if he is off playing, he doesn't even think about it. Ugh! My girls have been trained forever. I swear my two yr old will be trained before my four yr old.

I also have a teen in the house. She's fourteen. That child is amazing...she can be on the internet with the house phone up to her ear and text messaging someone on her cell phone all at the same time! I know adults who cannot multi-task like that! LOL And of course there is the *boyfriend* who is nothing but trouble and who wants to come over every night and who calls five thousand times a day. Sigh. I also dread this stage with the little ones...thankfully, I have a true-blue tattle tale in my group...I just hope she will continue to tattle to me when they are all teens.

Congrats to everyone for posting. I know we are all out there but sometimes there's nothing dramatic to post!

Tamra - I'm jealous. Time away with your dh. I forgot what that was!

Kris - Hope your girlsfeel better soon. Also hope the funeral goes as well as can be expected for your ds. They are hard at any age.

Danielle - I'm exhausted reading your schedule. Keeup us updated on the job situation. I know it can be scary.

Korrie - Glad to hear that Abby is doing well with her new treatment! Is the divorce moving along?

Rochelle - Hope your arthritis gets better soon. I envy anyone who can sew!

Kris - 4 years old already! That's such a big milestone. Time really starts to fly now! Potty training is the worst because we have so little control over it.

Keep the updates flowing. I'll post another update next Monday!

OOOh Traci, I'm jealous! I would LOVE for someone-ANYONE- to come and stay with me and help me out! It takes me all moring to just to get everyone fed and dressed-we hardly get anywhere these days! I am out of sitter now(allteens adn I'm not confident using them with my wild bunch! My adult sitter has a heart condition-I'm afraid my Herd will KILL her!) Now, my parents are balking at helping. I understand about their health issues and all and my group IS hard to handle with all the special needs but I only ask them when I am DESPERATE and I try to schedule things around nap and bedtimes! OOPs, venting, sorry!
Anyway, the divorce is finally about to proceed. I spoke with my lawyer last week and he will start filing what he needs to file. The STBX was ordered to pay spousal support for a minimum of 90 days or until he moves out of his parents house...guess when the jerk is moving out? Right on day 90..schmuck. So, I lose spousal support after March 1st. It was paying my mortgage. My lawyer will be trying (and better GET) me permanent support. In Texas, you don't get alimony unless you've been married more than 10 yrs or have "special circumstances" (read: abuse). Neither applies to me but he thinks the children's issues and me having been a SAHM for the last 4 1/2 yrs and now working a home-based business that wasn't working b/c STBX was SABOTAGING it, should qualify me. Let's hope so! Whew! That was long-winded and I'm beginning to vent again, sorry! Otherwise, things are going great-I have a positive outlook and I LOVE being single! (no,I am NOT dating-I havea real nasty attitude about men right now.) }> Though, I wouldn't mind a hot, brainless boy toy at the moment....

This is fun! Great idea!

I found out last night that we will have company from tonight until sometime next week. My aunt and her hubby are coming to visit. She is like a sister to me and having someone here with me will be wonderful. Her hubby is only staying a few days, so it will be just us girls for most of the time. My entire family lives out of state, so I only get to see them a few times a year. The kids are just wild tonight...they are so excited.
