#1493, "Bath Time"

I know a bunch of us have kiddos around the same ages so I was wondering if anyone had some tricks or tips for bath time.

I've been using the Fisher Price Bath Center. It has a hammock for up to 10 pounds, then a second stage for when they can't sit on their own yet. Well my guys will be 8 months old on May 9th, but are 5 months adjusted. They aren't sitting yet on their own, but wiggle and squirm. The keep launching themselves off the little shelf thingy they are sitting on in the tub.

Plus 2 of them are in PT for muscle control issues and they are so much more relaxed in the tub and after. I'd love to let them play longer, but doing 1 baby at a time makes it hard. We cannot afford to spend money on something that isn't going to last long or we'll stop using in a few months.

So should I just hang tight and keep doing this little tub, or is there a way to put all 3 in the tub at once where they'll be sitting safely? I know there are a ton of things on the market, but I'd like to hear what is actually working for you. Mother tested and approved

I am still doing 1 baby at a time for baths, too. I just love the 1:1 time it gives me and I'm stalling until mine are sitting up on their own. I just this week started putting my kids directly into the big tub. I run about 1-2" of water and I have a cushy mat on the floor of the tub that I lay them on. If they try to roll over, I just roll them right onto their backs again. They are so much happier. They splash, stretch and I do let them roll partly onto their sides. Plus I've found it a lot easier to wash them.

I saw someone who used the bumbo chairs to wash their three at once, but my kids don't do very well in those chairs, so that wouldn't work for me.

Good luck!
Joey

I just said to my mom last week "Am I am idiot or am I missing something with this bath situation?" Same thing happening here... way too big for the hammock but cannot sit up enough for the "infant" end of the tub so I try to recline them against the newborn end and their butt slips over the edge and down they go! I said "Are they still so newborn they can't even move to the infant end of the tub???"

Mine are 9 months and 6.5 adjusted. So I will continue bathing them one at a time and using the sling for right now for my smallest two. My most advanced one does what Joey said when I try to sit him at the infant end, flips to his side so fast that I cannot take my hands off him for a second. He loves it but it gives me a heart attack!

We are having the same issues. No longer use the hammock but all three aren't sitting quite on their own yet, we are very close, but far from being able to sit unassisted in a tub or anything.
We have tried the bumbos and they really are more of a pain then its worth and I would really like to be able to bath all three at once.
I also would like to avoid having to spend $30 a piece on those bath chairs..

Has anyone come across anything that works??

I got 3 bath rings from Buy Buy Baby. I tried them a few months ago and it didn't work because the boys couldn't sit up yet. My idea was to put them all in the tub in these seats and spray them down! A friend of mine with twins used an inflatable tub that went inside her tub. It had soft sides so her girls couldn't bonk themselves on the side or the faucet. I'm not sure if three babies could fit...

My concern with the inflatable tubs is that my guys don't sit yet. As far as the Bumbo, they don't sit in those well either. A 3 require a booby or something behind them as they will flop back or to the sides. Even the one who doesn't need PT for head control does it. Plus there is a gap behind their butts and then their legs are kinda tight in them. So I'm worried about slippery babies and being in the bumbo's.

However, if they have issues with the bumbo's...the chairs probably won't work either...

So frustrating. They want to play and I think if they can it would help them out with muscle control, but buying something for it not to work just isn't an option.

At least I know I'm not the only one struggling with this. That helps a little

My issue isn't with the sitting in the bumbos, it's the fact that the bumbos float. Mine sit great in them and love them, we just started sitting unsupported for a few second stretches at a time so I am thinking of trying the inflatable duck in the tub... It's only $11 at Target even if it doesn't work.

We caved and went with the bath seats. They are so awesome and work so well, they were worth every penny!

I love how these seem to go higher in the back then the ones I was looking at. I'll have to make sure to try this brand. Thanks soooo much for the picture!
