#655, "Still waking up"

My triplets are almost 14 months old and my son still wakes up
every night screaming. Before he turned a year old we would
did the regular night routine (change diaper and give a milk
bottle). After he turned a year I just changed his diaper and
gave him a water bottle. At first I thought maybe he wanted to
'play' so we started changing his diaper then putting him in a
pack n' play crib in the guest room to drink it by himself or
cry. I can't leave him in his own bed to cry it out because
his sisters are also in the room and I'd hate to wake them
up.

This past week he hasn't wanted his water bottle. So, it's
just been he wakes up screaming and I move him to the
portable crib in the next room. He usually goes right back to
sleep but will cry ocasionally.

Is moving him to his own room the answer? I would like to
know why he is still waking up once a night crying still. His
doctor said he was to young for night terrors. Has anyone else
had this problem?

My GGB are 7 months old and we have the same problem with one
of the girls. For a while I was letting her get into bed with
us then later I was putting her in a pack n play in our
bedroom. I finally got fed up and tried the Ferber Method on
her. I didn’t follow the method completely because I am just
not willing to let her cry for 3-10 minutes but I did do a
method that worked for me. Basically our problem was never
getting her to sleep, all are pretty good at falling asleep
on their own, the problem was that she would wake up several
times in the middle of the night wanting her pacifier or just
to know someone is close. Anyway, I would put her to bed in
the pack n play and when she would wake up I would let her
cry and try to work it out herself before jumping up to help
her. After about 2 weeks in our room I was able to move her
back to her crib to sleep with her siblings. So far so good.
She wakes up once or twice very briefly and most of the time
puts herself back to sleep.... and she never cries so much or
so loud that it wakes the other two up.

I hope this helps, Good Luck!

hi:
my girls are 13 months/11months adjusted.
they were sleeping from 8pm-6am and suddenly they are now
waking up TWICE a night to eat and play. i dont have them
play but i do feed them.
the doctor told me its b/c they are probably learning alot
lately (which is true) and wake up in the middle of the night
remembering all this. it is getting kinda better since now
they wake up sometimes only once but i am also getting use to
it and just drinking lots of coffee in the morning!
lol...
