#2877, "How much laundry do you do?"

Hi,

My DH thinks I'm crazy because I do 2 loads of laundry a day, more when I wash all the bed stuff. I rather do medium size loads then spend a whole day washing, drying and folding. So how much laundry do you do?

I've always done what you do: 2 loads a day.

I like to keep up on it. I hate the thought of a million pounds of everyone's clothes in the hampers.

I have a friend who does her laundry every Monday. Her whole day is just laundry. Totally dedicated to laundry.

I think that sounds nuts! LOL!

It just wouldn't work for me. I think it's way easier to do some small loads every day. And just like you mentioned: more on the days when bed linens are being washed.

I start all the laundry on one day and then I just continue until it's done. but the kids fold and put away their own. and they put all the clothes etc into the washer/dryer and laundry basket for me. so laundry is not a very time consuming task for me. I would hate to do it every day though! easier for me just to do it throughout one or two days in between other things we're doing.

We've got 5 kids (6-6-6-9-11).
I do the kids clothes once a week. It sometimes goes over into day 2, but I fold with a helper or 2 and make piles by kid.

Each child puts away their own clothes!

I do me and hubby's laundry whenever it gets about 3/4 full in the hamper!

I will start by saying...when I keep up with the laundry...I do about 2 loads a day. I MWF I do the bedding and lose days I have 2 extra loads to do. If I wait and do it only 1 day a week, then it takes me ALL DAY LONG!!!!

It's never ending!!! No way I could wait and do it all in one day. So all week long I do it. Some days if I am busy I don't get a chance to throw a load in. My kids have small hamper baskets in there rooms. They empty & sort them every other day. It's just on going. It's not very often when there is zero dirty laundry to be done.

Right now I have to wash a load of jeans at least twice a week. Otherwise they run out of jeans for school. Gotta get to the store and buy more to replace their holey ones. Can't wear those at school but it seems like all their jeans are getting holes in the knees.
I run a load or 2 a day. Sort it all about 2x a week and then keep the piles until they are a full load to run. So much easier to just grab the already sorted pile and put it in before I check my e-mails and such.

I stuff the washer to the point of breaking and do a load a day. Now putting it away, that's a whole different story.

I make everyone put their own away, though DH sometimes doesn't like having to do it. The kids have also started to help by folding towels. I don't always like how they are folded but figure it teaches responsibility and is one less thing I have to do.
I do need to redo my linen closet. No more room for sheets--UGH
