My husband's 40th birthday is coming up and I am really running short of ideas. Considering that we have 4-year old triplets and no family around to babysit them overnight or late at night, the parents can have a night on the town or just get away for a week-end.

My question to you is what was your most memorable birthday like and what was your most favorable present? As an alternative, what would your perfect birthday be like?

Two years ago DW threw me an awesome surprise party. The night before she gave me my bday gift (a pair of front row tickets to a hockey game) so I figured that all that was left was the typical family get together for cake the following day.

She got my buddy to take me out for several hours to get fitted for a tuxedo (for my buddy's wedding) When we got back there was a huge line of cars. It ended up being a huge party with cake, a ton of food, and an ice cold keg.

What make it for me was the fact that she kept it so secret and that she went all out for it to make it a big bash.

I can see the pressure....40's a big milestone...you could get him a walker has a joke gift. ; )

with the time that is given to us

My wife started a scrap book for me with the boys pictures and will build on it every year. When the boys get old enough, they will get to help pic the pics and paper and what-not.
