Ours were still rocked to sleep at night with a bottle at that age (one rocking in a stroller next to me while I rocked another and my husband had one). Who cares if people are mad at you!! You do what feels right and works for you. I remember getting lots of feedback about what I was doing "wrong" and what I "should" do. I know posters were just trying to help, but it seemed a little rough at the time ! AT about a year (maybe even a little older) we decided to transition to holding them for their last bottle and then putting them down awake. It went amazingly well. I think they were just ready. They definately needed to be tired enough. We also had it dark, used a loud air filter and lullaby music in there. Of course, not every night went as well, but they could do it! And, nights with no waking were (sometimes still are) almost nonexistant, but we'd just stick them in our bed until they went back to sleep. There is no one way you must do it. Good luck.
