I will have to take some pics but I am not sure if they will help. We are lucky that all 3 have their own rooms in this house. My son does have a bunk bed from IKEA and he loves it. He sleeps on the bottom but he would be old enough to sleep up top if he wants. My kids are almost 7 and I think he got his bunk bed at 5. His sister has the same bunk bed in her room (from IKEA) but my husband converted into a loft so she sleeps on the top and has space under for her desk. She has the smallest room.

The IKEA bunk beds we got were around $150 dollars. We stained my son's bed a midnight blue while my daughter's had remained unpainted since I am alzy. We also chose the IEKA route since we knew they wouldn't have them forever.
