Does he use a potty ring or just sit on the big toilet? My son was taught sitting on the ring and he was taught to hold himself down, aiming for the water. He doesn't close his legs. I had to make sure his pants were down enough at first but I didn't have to hold his penis down. He did that himself. The standing and aiming came later. We didn't really teach that. He learned from the other boys at preschool.

I wouldn't push the whole potty training thing with your other son until you get in your new house unless he shows signs that he is ready earlier. We started training my son in June and he was ready for school in September. A few more months of maturity will likely help.
