We started ABA programs for our sons in April 2004 in our home. The hours (15/week) were paid by our Early Intervention, and it was basically up to me to find a consultant and therapists to train, as we were what they were calling "pioneers". We had the hours continue past their third birthday (now paid by the school system), in addition to three mornings a week in a special ed speech classroom (with one of their therapists as an aide.) We now have 5 therapists on our team for our two boys, and our therapists come in each weekday. (If it's a school day, they do hours in the afternoon, if it's not a school day, they do long days of therapy with lots of social skills and theraputic play intermingled.) It's hard work, esp. for me, because it's my job to always keep the programs up to date with data collection, targets, etc. But it's worth it. I can watch video of my boys 6 months ago and see significant changes in them.
