#2330, "Bed-wetting for attention."

I've never encountered this one before. My girls have never worn pull-ups and have been potty-trained since they were 2 with no accidents. One of my girls (they just turned 4) wet the bed the other night just before 5:00 a.m. It was so close to morning that I didn't want to change the sheets and wake everyone else up, so I brought her in my room and put her on the floor with a blanket and a pillow. BIG mistake.

The next night, she was hopeful that "if" she had an accident she could come in our room. We set her straight and told her that if she had an accident, she'd have to stay in her room.

We're sure it's behavioral so we told her we were going to start withholding privileges if she continued.

That night, she wet the bed and I changed the sheets, but I think she liked that attention. So we told her that if it happened again, she'd have to just grab a fresh blanket and fresh clothes and sleep on the floor in her room.

Well, last night, we tucked them in and she deliberately peed in her bed less than 5 minutes after putting her in bed. Then 15 minutes later she screamed that she had to pee. Then again 15 minutes after that. And of course she peed two times in the middle of the night on her bed.

So we thought maybe it's a UTI. But we put that out of our minds because during the day, she's not wetting herself and she's not running over and over to the bathroom to pee. It's strictly a bedtime thing.

And we put the "pull-ups" thing out of our minds because I actually think she'd like wearing them and use it as an excuse and whatever she does, her sister wants to do, too.

Anyone encounter bed-wetting for attention/control? Any recommendations?
