I think you are on to something with the bed rails. When we moved ours to twin beds, we bought bunk beds and set them side by side. But we used the rail that comes with the bunk bed anyway, and to get out, they had to crawl up and over the rail. They just never got out of bed.
They don't have those anymore and I have at least one middle of the night visit per week. Michele
