That's part of the problem. Our district refuses to test until after school starts -- when it's too late to adjust the classes or do any further planning. And, at this point, I note that all of the first grade desks are full and there does not appear to be any room for my children to BE first graders at the school.

I know that the first two weeks were used for "assessments" but it is unclear what testing was performed or what the results were -- other than my being told that my children are "readers." Of course, I already knew this...

You have, however, pointed out the piece of the puzzle that will set all things straight for me. I'm needing to understand the test results so that I can understand where my children are and what they need. I know that their gross and fine motor skills are good and that they are academically at the first grade level, but I really would like to understand the other areas where they are at the kindergarten level. And, I know that developmental/social growth are things that cannot be rushed and shouldn't be rushed. It's the reason why I am comfortable having them be in kindergarten IF that's where they belong.

But, I need to know that they BELONG there, and I need to know how I should be supplementing and/or working with my children to keep their love of learning and their forward progression going. If I knew that there would be no detriment to simply allowing them to laze through this year without learning much of anything, I could relax and let that happen. My problem is that I'm fearful that my kids will learn things to occupy themselves, including laziness; stand-up comedy; disrespect; etc.
