I used to joke with the kids teachers that it wasn't fair they got the good kids. All I heard their K year was comments like, "Do they ever not smile?" As soon as they got in the car after school (all day K) the smiles the teachers saw all day were gone and the whining and complaining started. It was like flipping a switch. they were good until that damn van door shut. Snack and a little decompression time helped. I learned to wait to ask about their day until after snack.
