#1023, "Good News/Bad News/Prayers Please!"
Tue Jan-06-04 04:46 PM

Well, I wasn't going to tell yet but now I'm freaking out. Found out a few weeks ago we are pregnant again. Had scan last week and unbelievably saw TWO heartbeats. Today, though, I began bleeding. Have had some brownish spotting off and on but this seems like the real deal. So, dh is out of town and of course I am thinking the worst. It slows when I lay down but starts when I get up (like I can lay much with 20 month old trips!). Called my doc and have a scan scheduled for 8:45 am in the morning. So we'll know. We are so reeling from this news that we hadn't told a soul yet; now I'm so sad thinking maybe we won't have to. Never had a miscarriage before other than a "missed miscarriage" where there were no signs just no heartbeat and I had to have a d & c. The only thing I did different was over the weekend I felt like I was getting a yeast infection, so my doc told me just to use monistat which I did last night. The bleeding started this morning--so did I cause something? I will be so angry if that triggers something. I know what's meant to be is meant to be but after seeing those little heartbeats I just feel so sad and scared. By the way, I would be 9 weeks tomorrow and also have a pretty bad backache that started last Friday.

Oh well, I know I'm rambling. Just needed some support or just a little comforting.

Thanks.

Ellyn and the three little Z's

Ellyn: Well first I'll say congrats, wow twins after trips how exciting. Secondly, I'm so sorry you have to deal with this. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers and hopefully everything works out. Usually brownish blood means it's old and possibly has nothing to do with the pregnancy. Good luck at you next scan.

Big hugs

Did you have to use an applicator when you used the Monistat? My first thought is that the applicator might have touched your cervix and caused some slight bleeding. You didn't mention that you were having any cramping. If all the blood is brown (old) and there's no cramping I would say that things are probably okay.

I had bleeding (brown) once during my pregnancy after my cervix was irritated from a pap smear at my first ob/peri appt. It lasted for about a day. Hopefully yours will end soon too.

My fingers are crossed that everything is okay. Let us know.

Wow, Ellyn i'm praying soooo hard for you and your family. Just think then you will have 12 kiddos!!! Just like the movie Cheaper by the Dozen now playing in theaters. Such a great movie!!! Please let us know what happens. Sending (((( HUGS ))))) your way . BTW, i've never heard of monistat causing miscarriage, please don't blame yourself for what does/does not happen. Oh, also i had some bleeding w/ my triplets... my doctor told me that some bleeding is normal in multiple pregnancies, and my sister (who is now 7 months prego w/ a singleton) also had bleeding early in her pregnancy. I actually did a post about it, her bleeding was even bright red for a day... we thought for sure she was having a miscarriage. NOPE, she's carrying a healthy baby boy. HTH

Well, your (hugs) are making me cry, but thank you so much for your replies! Yes, I did use an applicator but the bleeding is more red, not brown. It did start to fade and almost went away this afternoon, but then got red again--it's not a ton, but more than spotting. Tomorrow morning seems sooo far away!! And, oh yes, we are not even thinking the number 12 out loud--OMG!! We saw Cheaper by the Dozen Sunday night after all the kids were in bed and my oldest daughter (16) babysat. And the youngest were even twins! Yikes!

Okay, first of all, WOW! Twins after triplets, you go girl! I just wanted to tell you that I spotted/bled a lot during weeks 8-14 and have 3 beautiful babies! Spotting can mean nothing too! My blood was red not brown and I know brown is old, so I was very scared! Just wanted to give you some comfort that the bleeding could very well be nothing! Try to relax, wishing you the best!

Ellyn,

How scary, I'm sending thoughts for the best news possible tomorrow. I had a couple of yeast infections w/my singleton and I don't think even the applicator w/the Monistat could trigger a miscarriage so please don't beat yourself up.

Rest as much as possible, hopefully you can go to bed early, and I'll be praying for things to be ok with you and your little buns.

Marie

Ellyn, I hope everything turns out ok for you. Try not to freak out too much. I began bleeding when I was approx. 8 weeks and luckily my three are sleeping in the next room right now. I bled very hard and the blood was bright red-this also went on for a month and a 1/2. They all survived but it is SO scary. my peris told me that it takes a long time for your body to rid itself of the blood that is why mine lasted so long-try to keep positive-I will keep you in my thoughts prayers!

Ellen, even if it's red blood, if it's less than one pad an hour, then you are probably okay. Especially if you don't have cramping or clots coming out.

I had two bleeding scares during my pregnancy, but things turned out okay. I think lots of multiple pregnancies have associated bleeding, but almost always it's "nothing". Of course it doesn't feel like nothing when you're afraid you're losing the pregnancy!!!

Please let us know tomorrow how things are, okay? And is it okay if I extend a little congratulations? I know you're nervous, but I'm so happy for you I have to say something!

congratulations ellen!!!

i am praying for you and your family!

i was also a bleeder with this pregnancy and had brown/bright red/ etc etc for four whole weeks.

are you cramping or feverish? if not, those are good signs. my dr and my acupuncturist said a good reason is the placenta's are shifting as they attach to the wall.

you are probably on the way to the appointment, please post when you can and know that there are many prayers headed in your direction.
