#112508, "Questions for doctor"

Hello all,
My wife and I are meeting with a doctor for our triplets on Wednesday for an interview. What are some things that we should be asking him? We want to make sure we ask the right things and that we are comfortable with him. Please advise us as to what you asked.
Thanks,
Ryan and Mindy

g/g/b due August 15

I would ask the hours, what you should do after hours if your babiy gets sick, do they have weekend hours, who covers for your doctor when he is on vacation, do they have seperate waiting rooms for sick and not sick children, what is their policy requarding seeing all of your children if you make an appt for one who is sick, but all three are sick by the time you get there, how long does it take for them to return phone calls if you have a question and who returns the phone calls?

I love our pediatricians office for many reasons and I will give you some examples of why I like them. They are located at major teaching hospital, so we have one assigned pediatrician, but if they are not working there is always someone else to see, their hours are 7am to 9pm M-F and 10-2 on Weekends, they have a x-ray, pharmacy, and lab in the same building, so when my son had pneumonia they sent him down the hall for an x-ray and a few minutes later we knew what was wrong. When all 4 of my kids had rotovirus a few months ago, they did the bags of iv fluids in the office instead of admitting them to the hospital, the nurses know my kids names and can tell my trio apart, because they take the time to care, they always call us into the biggest room so the runabout fits. I feel it is important to get appts on the same day if you call with a sick child.

Hope this helps.

Chrissy

Our pediatrician lets us go into a room right when we arrive (unfortunately no separate waiting areas) and allows us to exit out a side door - I find this helpful. We got the referral to her from my peri's office.
