I had an appt with the ped two days ago and she examined my kids and noticed that both my girls have soft downy hair on their peepee. She was surprised by it and said that we'll just have to keep an eye on it. I asked her why and she said "well we want to make sure they don't go in puberty too early". It's not pubic like hair so she's not too concerned.

I know my daughters would kill me for posting this but thankfully, their too young to know. LOL Has anyone out there experienced anything like this?

Cristina,
One of my daughters has this also and our ped never said anything about it. I am anxious to see other responses.

Hey Gina,

I'm guessing by your name that you must be from a European country. I just chalk it up to being full blooded Italian and we're just hairy people. Also both my DH and I have very dark brown hair and so do my children. They actually were born with a full head of hair. I'm just hoping that is all it is. I'm glad your ped never mentioned anything about it. It makes me feel better. It's good to hear that someone else can relate with me.

No, but I will tell you that when I taught first grade I had a 7 year old that was getting her period. I remember the day her father dropped her off at school and came to tell me. I was shocked. Somthing about her puitary gland. She carried her pads in her bookbag and I sent her to the nurse when she needed to change her pad. She was a big girls and her breasts were developing also - I would have had her in a bra, but she did not wear one. So sad, I am sure that is not what your dr is talking about though..I think hers was a rare case...

Cristina,
I know that my daughters had hairy ears, shoulders, and foreheads when they were born. They are 9 months now, and it is getting better. We were told it was because they were preemies. I think they call it left over lanugo? If your girls have excessive hair other places as well, I would think it might be a "preemie thing."

Cristina-

My dd doesn't have it, but a close friends does. She actually had a bit of testing done because it was thought there was too much hormones being passed through breastmilk. This little girl is now almost 6 and she's still quite hairy.

My friend is extremely concerned about her daughters going into puberty early ( they're half African-American) to the point where they only get organic milk.

Hope this helps!
