Hi everyone! I was just hoping to do a little comparison with my kids schedules VS others out there around the same age. Our current schedule has worked so WELL for us, but unfortunately it seems that the kids are now not wanting to go down for their afternoon nap. I am wondering how I should try and "tweek" their day.
7am Wake 7:30 Breakfast Play 9:00 Baby Mozart video 9:30 Nap 11:00 Wake Dress 11:30 Lunch Play 1:30 Nap 3:00 Wake 3:30 Snack Play 5:30 Dinner Play 6:00 Baby Mozart video 6:30/45 Baths/ bedtime routine/bottles 7/7:15 Bedtime

For me, the afternoon nap was and is the most important. I noticed with my singleton, that about 16 - 18 weeks, she began to not need the morning nap as much or if she took a morning nap, she didn't need much of an afternoon nap. So your babies may beginning to not need as much sleep but I would still make sure they go in their cribs and have quiet time. 9 out of 10 times they will probably fall asleep. I still put my singleton down for at least 30 minutes in the am and she generally doesn't fall asleep but occasionally she does but I need a few minutes to do a few things and quiet time doesn't hurt anyone. I think you have to decide which nap is the most important and fight for that one. You might trying putting them down a little after 1:30. Maybe try pushing them towards 2pm and see if they are more tired by then. I believe they still need the sleep so don't give in. Also, you may try not letting them sleep as long in the am so they will take the pm nap.

Our schedule is almost identical to yours (my babies are almost a month older), except our morning nap is 1/2 hour earlier and our afternoon nap is at least 1/2 hour later. So that is more than an hour difference in awake times between the two naps. Your time inbetween naps is only 2 hours, while your time after the second nap but before bedtime is 4 hours. I think your babies would do much better going to their afternoon nap at 2 or 2:30. My babies still so need the morning nap - they are very crabby by 9 am, so I don't think we are anywhere near going to 1 nap (thank goodness - I need that time!).

Hi Sandy,
My babies were born on 11-23-02 (at 28 weeks)so we are VERY close in ag Our "schedule" is approximately this:
7:30-8 Wake up and 8oz bottle Play (maybe Baby Van Gogh) 10:00 Breakfast (cereal/veggie/dry cereal finger food) Play (bath every other day) Dress 11:00 Nap if needed (sometimes nap AFTER 12 noon bottle) 12noon 8oz bottle Play snack when needed 3 or 4 Nap 4 or 5 8oz bottle Play 6-6:30ish Dinner Yogurt or cheese/fruit Play Baby Van Gogh sometimes to wind down 8 or 8:30 8oz bottle then to bed
My babies have always slept in later, and gone to bed later than average. We have not really started a strict bedtime routine. We moved from our home in CA in OCT, and have been living with my parents ever since. We are moving into our new home this week, so I plan to start a better routine as we settle in. The only place I have to bathe them right now is a bath ring in the kitchen sink, one at a time! Ugh. Both of my parents tubs are jetted and too dee
I am working to switch from Formula to Whole milk by their adjusted 1 year age in February. I need to add another meal, too.
I don't force naps. It is very obvious to me when they are tired, and I hold and gently bounce on knee (my husband is good at this! They love it)or rock to sleep. If they don't fall asleep within 5-10 minutes, they really are not that tired. I think my babies get more of their sleep at night, which is fine with me!
Are your babies down to only 1 bottle? Or is that part of breakfast/lunch/dinner? What kind of food are they eating? We are a little behind compared to others, I know. Sigh. We'll get there!
Good luck with the nap

Our 12mo. kiddo schedule was:
7am 6 oz Sippy cup plus waffles, fruit, etc. 9am Nap 1 to 2 hours 11am 6 oz Sippy cup plus lunch 1pm Nap 1 to 2 hours 3pm 6 oz sippy cup 5pm 5 oz Sippy cup plus crackers 6pm Dinner sippy cup of milk 6:30 Bath 7:30pm bed for the night
Our 15mo. kiddo schedule was:
7am 9 oz Sippy cup plus waffles, fruit, etc. 11am 9 oz Sippy cup plus lunch 12pm Nap 1 to 2 hours 3pm 9 oz sippy cup 5pm 9 oz Sippy cup plus snacks 5:30pm Dinner and sippy cup of milk 6:00pm Bath 7:00pm bed for the night
We are still on the same schedule at 22 months, except dinner is closer to 6pm now and bed is 7pm to 7:15 pm. There is no way they would do 2 naps.

Thank you all for your responses. I think I am going to try putting the kids down later in the afternoon. As of yesterday, the kids are coming down with another cold-URGH! So, their regulary scheduled nap was very welcomed by all (especially mommy-LOL!)
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Maybe just try cutting out the morning nap. My kiddos were ready to give up their morning nap at 11 months. They are now 14 months and this is our schedule.
7:30- Wake-up 7oz. bottle (which will be sippy as of tomorrow) 8:30- Breakfast 8:30-11:30- Play and watch Barney 11:30- Lunch w/ sippy 12:15- nice long 3 hr. nap 3:15- Wake-up 7oz. sippy, then we go pick up brother at school 4:00- snack 5:45- Dinner and 6oz sippy 6:00-6:45- Bath 7:00- 7oz. bottle and then Night, Night
It will seem hard at first to keep them up in the morning, the key is to keep them very busy ie. get on the floor and play, wrestle, read books, etc... I personally *LOVE* one nap a day. It is so much easier to plan things and it's sooooo nice having 3 hrs. to myself everyday. HTH

I was so glad to see some of these schedules. My twins are 13 months almost 14 and my triplets are almost 7 years old. My triplets were very routined and our life revolved around their schedules. I am afraid my twins aren't as lucky and they are forced to be on the move much more. I was also glad to see that some schedules included bottles. I know my girls can use a cup and a straw but they are very attached to the bottle and I am slowly trying to have them give it up. They usually only get one before nap or bed time, when they are in their car seats or if they are extremely fussy. If anyone has suggestions on making this transition any easier I would love to hear it. My triplets did not have any problem giving up the bottle so this is somewhat new territory for me.
