#1679, "Scheduling ideas needed"

I just started putting my kids on a schedule because I started the CIO thing and we're getting on track now. I'm able to get them to sleep 10 hours a night now and I'd like to get them to sleep 12 hours if I could. Now, my problem is this....how do you fit everything in the day in just 12 hours??? My current schedule is as follows:

7am Wake up and feed
9am Naptime
10:30 - 11am Feed (bottle and cereal w/ fruit)
12-1pm - Playtime and Baby Einstein video
1pm Naptime
1:30-2pm - Feed
3pm Naptime (if previous naptime was insufficient)
4:30-5pm - Feed (bottle and a jar of veggies)
6pm Bath
7:30-8pm - Feed (bottle w/ cereal in bottle)
8:30 Read to them or play another Einstein video
9pm Bedtime

Is this too demanding of a schedule? Is it realistic? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Cristina, Mine are just a few weeks older than yours and I have had them on this schedule for about 3 months.

7:30 wake up and 8 ounce bottle, get dressed, tummy time
8:30 walk and then play
10:00 naptime
11:30-12:00 6 ounce bottle and lunch
12:00-2:00 play and go out (I will usually take them sometimes too, zoo, beach, park, etc.)
2:00-2.15 4 ounce bottle
2:10-4:00 naptime
4:00 to 4:15 4 ounce bottle
4:15-5:45 play, read , dance, etc.
5:45 -6:15 dinner prepared baby foods
6:15-6:45 Baths
6:45 to 7:15 7.5 ounce bottle.
7:30 sleep

The times are really approximate, but that is pretty much my day.

Hope this helps. Don't you love the Baby Einstein videos?

Alicia,

Your kids must eat very fast. I takes me sometimes 1/2 hour to an hour to get them to finish their bottles!!! Bathtime seems quick too. Do you live in a warm climate? It is so cold here in NJ that we don't have the luxury of taking them out. We're homebound!!! Anyway, I LOVE your schedule and I really wish I can get them on this schedule but it doesn't seem doable at this time. Maybe once they start to eat faster it can be possible. Thanks for your ideas.

And YES.....absolutely love Baby Einstein Videos!

Hi Cristina, Yes, they do eat pretty fast. I feed them all at the same time by propping their bottles.

We also live in So California so taking them out is very easy. Plus, I live a few blocks from the beach so taking them to the beach is my walk.

Bathtime is quick because I never do it alone. Either my husband and I tag team, I wash and he dries or my mom and I tag team. She lives about 3 miles away and helps every night. I am lucky that I think I have only had to wash them on my own a few times since they have been born. I also have a neighbor who loves the babies and comes over to help if my mom is not here or my husband is not here.

I think our schedules are similar except the mid-day nap. Mine used to take one, but I phased it out so that they would sleep longer during their other naps, but they still slept the same amount. Honestly, it is a long stretch in the mid-day without a nap.

All the best.

Cristina-
10hrs at 6 months is GREAT!!!!!!!!!

When they drop that 3rd nap they'll probably go closer to 12hrs at night. I'd embrace the 10hrs if I was you! That's really good! With the 3 daytime naps- they are getting plenty of sleep. So when they drop down to 2, you may see longer than 10hrs at night
