#2106, "Getting a little concerned...............Preterm L"

I had an appointment today and the good news is that they babies looked great and we found out that they are all three boys. The not so good news is that I have dilated to 1 and we are doing a cerclage on Wednesday. I really hadn't noticed many contractions just told the doc that last night I noticed something a little different and my heart was racing (thank goodness I said something cause my cervix looked perfect on the u/s but, she checked me and well.......). My concern is that now after not having any kind of symptoms my lower back is achy (which it was at my last appointment and I was fine) and my real concern is that I the last couple of times I have used the restroom there is some clear cervical mucus which I haven't had at all up till now. So, what do you think? Anyone with suggestions. I figured that I would call in the morning since it is already so late?? Any info. on the cerclage, recovery time, pain?, how it is done? I didn't get to ask many questions and I've tried to do some searches but, it's bed time and I figure I'll check and see if anyone has any responses when I get up during the night for one of my many bathroom breaks.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Michelle

Michelle,

Hi! I had my cerclage done @ 18 weeks. I went into preterm labor (starting to bleed alittle and I had dilated). The surgery to put the cerclage in was a breeze. I never felt a thing! They gave me a spinal and after that wore off I still felt no pain. I was on home rest - no work, no shopping , nothing! My water broke one morning at 28 weeks. With my daughter the doctor had to break my water so when it broke while I was sleeping it freaked me out. At first I wasn't sure what had happen, but I knew something was going on. This happen at 2:00 in the morning I was worried about calling my doctor and waking him up if I had just tinkled on myself. It wasn't alot of water just enough to wake me and my husband up. We called him and he told me to meet him at the hospital and sure enough my water did break. I had 3 boys named Matthew, Bradley and Paul a week later. They are 6 months tomorrow. They are sleeping all night and have been for quite some time.
If you have any more questions feel free to e-mail me at tbtilghman@wmconnect.com. Teresa

I would call right away, You can't be too cautious, and I would hope that your doctor feels the same way. My doctor told me so at every visit! Let us know what he says. Even if your doctor doesn't take it seriously, I would go to the hospital to be checked just in case. Don't want to scare you but it never hurts to check.
