#2298, "Update on triplets and question about excessive a"
Tue Jan-13-04 07:43 AM

I had my level two yesterday and we are all doing well. I am now 20 weeks, all three babies are measuring at 21 weeks.
Baby A is a boy and his weight is 14 oz, he is measuring at 21 wks one day.
Baby B, is a girl her weight is 13 oz, 21 weeks.
Baby C is a boy, and is 15 oz 21 wks two days.

Baby B has excessive amnotic fluid, as a result I am now on bedrest and will have to start taking shots tomorrow to help prevent premature labor. Has anyone else experienced this?

My dr was originaly saying he wanted me to make it to 33 weeks, now he is saying 28, i think the change is because of the extended uterus as a result of the excessive fluid. It is kind of scarry but after touring the NICU yesterday I feel better about it. Any advice..

Hi Rose Marie!

I do not have any experience to share. I guess the bright side I see in your post is that the babies are measuring ahead! Hopefully someone will see this and offer their wisdom.

Hi Rosemarie,
I also have no experience with that but wanted to say I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us updated. Sounds like everyone is growing right on target. Just hang in there and do what the Dr tells you.

Rose Marie,

I was only on oral terbuline to prevent pre-term labor except for 3 visits to hosp. when I was actually in PTL, then they gave me the shots. Despite PTL 3x, I went on to carry 31w6d.

As far as bed rest I spent 3 months on strict bed rest (after I miscarried my quad baby). Take it seriously, even though you are bored and frustrated. I read Dr. Luke's book "when you are expecting twins, triplets or quads" and followed the diet & instructions as closely as I could. Dr. your water, that will keep you out of the hospital, the few times I slacked off on my water, I was in trouble.

Good luck, I hope you can carry as long as possible.

I went on bedrest at 21 weeks in full labor and ended up having an emergency cerclage. I somehow managed to make it through the night, and my doctors called me "the miracle of the month." I stayed in the hospital on mag for the rest of my pregnancy. My doctors didn't even think that I would make it to 27 weeks (of course, they didn't tell me that!!). I delivered my girls at 29 weeks, 5 days. They will turn three in a few weeks and are perfect. We have had no complications and all are right on track developmentally. Just hold on as long as you can and know that you are doing everything possible to give them the best start in life. Good luck!
