#2416, "Magnesium oxide - Yes or No"
|
Hello everyone - Just a question.
My DW is about 28 weeks with triplets and are trying everything possible for the prevention of preterm labor. One thing that the doc meationed was to take Magnesium oxide 3 x a day. She said you can get this over the counter.
Has any tried taking Magnesium oxide? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I began taking it during my ivf cycle, as it was recommended to keep the uterus from contracting. I continued taking it during my entire pregnancy, I actually switched to a combo pill calcium/magnesium/zinc calcuium - for obvious reasons and zinc to prevent infections, strep B,urinary tract, etc.. and the magnesium for keeping my uterus in check.. I never had any PTL. Delivered my trio at 34 weeks, no complications..
p.s. I actually recommended to a friend who was carrying a singleton, and experiencing early contractions, she took it and it seemed to calm her uterus considerably, she went on to deliver at 40 weeks.
Good Luck...
