#2671, "2nd ques. Correlation b/w stretch marks and saggy"

From reading the posts, I've noticed a lot of variations in the amount of saggy stomach skin women have post partum (e.g. some require tummy tucks, others not too bad).

I was wondering if there was any correlation between the number of stretch marks you have and the state of your stretched out skin post partum (can you tell I am on bedrest and have too much time on my hands). I am 30 wks now and have been lucky enough to avoid stretch marks so far - I was just curious if this boded well for my stomach regaining some of its shape later on.

Thanks,
Courtney

Interesting question Courtney.
I think about this every nite as I lather up my belly in no-stretch mark cream!

All I know is I was huge with my first baby (yes, I know I will be bigger with the triplets), gained 46 pounds, and carried til 42 weeks.
I had NO stretch marks and my tummy went back to pretty much normal within a couple of months after giving birth.

Definitely continue to drink a ton of water post birth and start those situps as soon as possible.

Courtney,
First good job on making it to 30 weeks so far... I didn't read the other answers to your question so I'm sorry in advance if I repeat what others have already said. My experience was this I am 5'1" started out @ 110 went 34 weeks with my trio and weighed 179 the day they were born. I had NO stretchmarks at all while I was pregnant. However they showed up afterwards. I still don't have any on my belly but I did get them above my butt & on my breasts. They are faint but i know they are there. Now for my "saggy stomach"..... Well my belly was huge (as was everyone elses that is on this board) it had stretched so much that it became shiney and really smooth. I now have alot of skin (looks like elephant skin). I have gone for a consultation to get a tummy tuck. I have a hernia that needs to be repaired due to the pregnancy. My fascia has seperated so much that it needs to be stitched back together in order to ever have a good looking belly again. I personally hate the way my stomach looks and feels. Mine depresses me. There are several women on this board who have gotten their belly s back with out any problem. You will just have to wait and see how yours turns out. I hope it is a good belly & it cooperates with your wishes...lol
