#397537, "Any hope of dropping the term "DH"?"
|
Hi,
This is inspired by a recent thread, but not written in response to it, or aimed at any one individual or poster - I promise. As a frequent reader and sometime contributor to this forum, and as a minority here (a dad), I just want to express my outright loathing, my complete and utter disdain for the term "DH." I've been on this site for half a year and I have no idea what it stands for. My guess is either "Dedicated Husband" or "Designated Husband," but no matter what it stands for, it basically seems to me to marginalize the role of fathers in the parenting process, and to lump all of us together into one homogenous group. It also reads as some secret, exclusionary code. I completely understand how triplet moms can often feel that the burden of parenting falls too heavily upon them, and I'm sure no matter how much we dads contribute, we will never quite equal the monumental personal sacrifices involved in triplet mothering. But just so you know, being labeled a DH (and by the way, I can think of something ELSE that might stand for), doesn't exactly make me feel appreciated for anything.
Just saying.
