#487281, "Having another after triplets"

I have 5 year old GGG triplets and have been wanting to have another baby (hopefully a boy) for the last 2 years. I think I have finally convinced my husband to go ahead with it this year. Are there any other mums out there that has done this? Would you recommend it? Was the last baby easier?

Yes go for it! It is so much fun to have another baby after triplets. It is great to have the younger sibling/older sibling dynamic. I think siblings are the greatest gift we can give our children and so it is already amazing that your triplets have each other. If you desire to have another one, than that is just one more gift you will be giving your children and it is wonderful.

I think 5 or 6 is a great age if you're thinking of adding another to the mix. The kids are much more independent, and they will appreciate their younger sibling much more and possibly even help out a bit. Plus, I think at that age, you'll be able to enjoy the singleton experience much more than when you're fooling with toddlers at the same time. Our trips are about 4, and IF we ever decide to have another, it would be when they're about 5 or 6 (at least to try---not sure it would ever work, AND we're worried about multiples again, so we'd have to be uber conservative). I think either way, your kids will be very happy. For us, I have a hard time moving on from the idea of experiencing a 2nd pg. and the baby phase once more, but I hope that if it ever happens, I can get past the need to keep TTC for more. I LOVE LOVE LOVE babies and children, but I know that for my family's sake, I have to be grounded. For us, financial and logistical considerations come into play, so we want to try to figure things out first before we take such a huge step. Good luck in your decision!!!

Thanks so much for your response. If we do go for another one this year the girls will be 6 by the time the next is born, so I think it would be a great time to do it.

I debated for years about having another baby after my triplets.
I could not decide, my husband was fine either way. I finally decided to try and see what happened. After a lot of fertility issues with the triplets, I got pregnant immediately with my singleton. He was due on Christmas day. I guess he was meant to be.
I love the experience of having 1 more. He is almost 6 years younger than my trio. They love him too. They help a lot with him.
He is a little spoiled, though
Good luck, I think you would love having 1 more!

DO IT!!! My daughter was born a month after my boys turned three. I had the opposite. Three boys and then a girl. She is a joy! I love having the fourth. I would have a 5th if I could but my DR said I was too high risk to have a 5th because the fourth ruptured my old c section scar. It is so much fun!

Our #4 just turned 1. It has been an amazing experience from pregnancy on up. He has his own challenges of course, but it is a lot easier dealing with 1 vs 3. It has gone so well in fact, we plan to try once more at the end of this year
Good luck!
