I just finished day 2 in the 3 day potty training method. (google 3 day potty training and use your own mixture of idea's from different sights)
I was doing great. I am only potty training two right now because my daughter has CP and I want her to learn to tell me she went potty before potty training her. The boys did ok the first day, with lots of accidents. Today my stubborn son said he had to go in the "adult" potty in the bathroom. I took him in there, played his games, then when I came out my other son was sitting on a kids potty. I looked and sure enough he had went pee a LOT, yet it was through his underwear. Huge accomplishment, he knows when he has to go and where.
Grandma shows up to "help". Her STRESS, even after I talked to her about no stress potty training, wore off on me and the kids. At the end of day two we are worse off than before day one. They don't want to hear the word potty, pee or poo poo. When grandma was here and after she left we had accidents everywhere, including one ONE foot away from the toilet while brushing teeth.
Here is my point. Stress kills potty training. You mentioned that you don't want them to make a mess. Do what I did, put blankets and towels EVERYWHERE. The kids think it's fun and new. Buy lots of carpet cleaner.
They learn when they have accidents. Learn to get happy when they have an accident because that means they saw something different going on down there. Be prepared for lots of work. But if you are like me, 3 days of solid work is better than months of casual work. You should pee on your own carpet to get over the anxiety............haha......I got gross didn't I

Are you using a potty or having her go on the toilet? If you're using a potty, what about switching -- talk to her about it, make it sound very exciting - she's a big girl now so she can go poop in the big girl potty (toilet) and then go out with her and let her choose a potty seat to go on the toilet. Create a sticker chart for all the kids - we did one for pee and another for poop and put them in the bathroom. Decide what you'd like to do with the stickers...sometimes the stickers are enough -- seeing the stickers mount up on the page gets them super excited...make a huge deal out of getting a sticker. You could add a reward - for every 3..4...5 stickers (times she poops in the toilet), she gets a candy, toy, new pair of socks...whatever. My daughter also liked to say "bye bye" when she flushed...
anyway - just some thoughts. things will settle out...good luck. Janet G - 12/07 35 weeks GGG-04/10 30 weeks
