Hey everyone, thanks for all the car advice. I was hoping to get some advice about strollers/ Carseats. We are likely going to have a 2011 Acura mdx and would like to do 3 Carseats across the middle row.

My question is how important is it for triplet parents to have Carseats that hook directly into a compatible stroller. It seems that a lot of people here like the diono radian rxt as it is slim, but it has no stroller options. I know pp and other Carseats are removable with compatible strollers...

Bottom line, what are pros/cons of the two scenarios above? Thanks in advance for any advice.

I did not have car seats with a stroller that they would snap into. I ended up buying a double stroller that the seats would lay down flat. I then was able to put two of the car seats in the stroller. The third one my husband would put in the shopping cart. I really liked this alot better then having all three together. Alot of people said, "oh look twins" and they would keep going but if we had all three together in the big triplet stropller they would stop us.

We are planning to do what the previous poster said. We have the Chico key fit infant carriers and are registered for the Chico double stroller. I know everyone really likes the radians, and we plan to get them as well, but my Car Seat Certified friends really caution starting babies in a convertible seat. Especially with the likelihood that our babies will be tiny. Infant carriers are the safest place for tiny infants, so we are starting with carriers and will move to convertibles closer to the 15-20 lb mark. Just for what it is worth.

Looking at the dimensions of the chico 30, it does not appear to be very wide. Do you think it will fit 3 across in most SUVs?

We have the keyfit 30, and they do fit 3 across in our Acadia. I honestly think they may fit 3 across in my Terrain too, but we haven't tried it because the Acadia will be the only vehicle we can fit all 4 of our kiddos!

We started with the chicco keyfits with a single and a double stroller and when they were older used the radians and a runabout stroller. Be advised that most triplets are born small and require a carseat to meet those requirements. Chicco keyfit 30's go from 4 lbs to 30 lbs. We ended up selling ours for a good price when we were done and they are now in the radians. We love the radians and they fit 3 across.

good luck with your decision

We had the Graco Snugride carseats, and they fit 3 across the middle row easily in our Expedition, and fit in my parents' Honda Pilot. They snapped into the Triple Decker Stroller (as well as a double stroller). It was invaluable to have this option as infants. Ours outgrew the length limit before the weight limit on the carseat (we didn't change them unti they were > 1 year old).

We now have the Radians.

Thanks for all the advice. In regards to the Graco, are we talking about the snugride 30? Also, may I ask about the specific strollers that worked well with the snugride...i.e. 1 single and 1 double or one double and one baby bjorn? Are the triple strollers in general not liked in practice?

We had the sung rude with our first daughter and really liked it, but it's a bit wider than the Chico and it is only rated for 5-30 lbs where as the Chico is 4-30lbs. Honestly though, I think you'd be safe either way. We have the single stroller that was part of the graco travel system. And my brother (who has twins) used the graco double stroller system that went with the sung ride seat. I don't know of other brands that fit, we are planning to use a Chico double stroller with our key fits.

The Graco we had was just the one rated to 22 pounds; however, we had tiny babies who didn't outgrow them until over a year. We actually changed them to the Radians because their length outgrew the infant seat before their weight did.

We had/have a whole array of strollers. We had the triple decker which was nice for walks when they were tiny infants, and for doctors appointments where all three went. We also had a double that we used along with a backpack for trips to the zoo, etc. And I got a free hand-me-down single stroller that was nice when just one had a doctor's appointment. The biggest problem with the triple decker imo is the attention it gets.... For some reason people don't seem to notice a single plus a double and realize they are triplets... It really depends on how often one person will need to take the babies anywhere.

We had Chicco Key Fit 30 & loved them while they were little. Super easy & we just got a double & single snap & go stroller which were cheap & light & we could drop the car carriers in (the Chicco doesn't fit as well as some but it did work). We had a Ford Edge and fit three across that.

Just as an "on down the line" - we loved the Sunshine Kids Radian car seats and they fit 3 across my Edge, and now my Buick Enclave, and my nanny's small Chevy SUV. B/c my kids grew super fast, Will was a chunk, we had to convert to the bigger car seats before they turned one.

Good luck!

Hi,

We went with Maxi Cosi infant car seats. It's the narrowest out there. I was able to fit three across Infinity G37. We got new radians for Xmas, and switched to Toyota Highlander.
As far as strollers, I have a double and a single, so the infant car seats would just snap on it.

I have a question about the maxi-cosi carseats. They look very nice in the store. The saleslady showed us the baby jogger city mini single and double stroller working well with the maxi-cosi...Anyone with experience with that stroller?

I had a baby jogger city mini double, personally I didn't like it. My premies looked so uncomfortable in it. I think its made for toddlers(it's easy to fold and take with you) but not good for daily use. I believe you need an attachment for it to work with any car seat brand. I didn't even bother with it because I ended up selling baby jogger and bought Stroll-Air Duo.
For the single stroller I got Maxi Cosi Forey, you don't need any attachments, just take off the toddler seat and put on a car seat... Made my life easier.
