I am delivering triplet girls in four weeks and am looking for stroller advice. I purchased a quad stroller because I have a son who just turned two, but it does not hold infant car seats for easy transfer. I was watching a TLC multiples episode and they had a double stroller that carried two of the infant car seats and then the other parent carried the other car seat in and out of the hospital/dr. office, etc. I am concerned about the cooler months and winter, I know how nice it was to transfer my son in his infant seat right into the stroller and not wake him and am wondering if I need to purchase a double stroller to hold my infant car seats or if it would be a waste of money as I already hav a quad stroller. Thanks for the feedback!
K. Good, soon to be mother of four.

I'm wondering, where will you be going where you need to transport the triplets and your older son all by yourself? Will you be going to the doctor's office, grocery store, etc. by yourself, or are you thinking of taking all four for walks? I have a daughter about 2-1/2 years older than the triplets and I just can't think of any time that I took the four of them out by myself the first 6-9 months or so. Luckily I had a babysitter/helper and family around, so I didn't have to. I'd encourage you not to expect to go out with all four by yourself if you have any other option (maybe you don't have a choice though). You will really prefer pushing a double or single stroller so if you have help you won't want to be pushing a quad.

I'd recommend the Triple Decker as the easiest option for getting the triplets around in their infant carseats, you can buy it used and/or re-sell it and get most of your money back. It folds up easily in your trunk and pushes easily--I loved it. It only takes Evenflo or Graco infant seats though, so if you've already purchased a different brand of seats this will not work. Other than that, to my understanding, only the Peg Perego Triple takes infant seats, and for that you need the Peg infant seats, and this combo (Peg stroller + Peg infant seats) is pretty pricey.

If you are someone who will want to seriously go for walks with all four kids by yourself I think you will want a Runabout.

There will be a small window where you will like your quad stroller but by the time the triplets are 18 months or so I think you will like the choo-choo wagon. My kids just plain loved riding in that, though I mainly used it outside. I used it until the triplets were 4 and my oldest was 6, and was sad to see it go. It also is indestructible, you can add cars onto it, and can buy it used and/or resell it, making it very affordable.

HTH... good luck!

Thanks for the advice! The quad I have can also be a triple or double easily but once again it won't take car seats to my knowledge. It is the ABC buggy. I plan to use it take walks daily when I am up for it.
The only reason I thought I would need a double to put the car seats in and then carry the other was to go to church when they are a few months old (we go every Sunday), Dr. appointments, and the grocery store if I have to take them all. HOwever, all of these places I go I will most likely have another set of hands with me so maybe I don't need to worry about a double or triple stroller to hold car seats after all.
Love the idea about the choo-choo wagon.

Everyone is different.

I took all 4 of mine out alone all the time- to the doctor, to the zoo, to the store etc. My husband took off work for the first 6 weeks but after that I was on my own most of the time.

My son was 15 1/2 mos old when the girls were born. I put the 2 littler girls middle seat seat of our Peg, the biggest girl in the back seat (both laid all the way back) and my son in the front seat.

Personally I would just keep the quad and use it through the summer. By the time winter comes along, you will have a better idea of your needs.

This is what I found when I had my babies. I thought the same thing that I wanted a stroller that would hold the car seats. I found that you really don't go that many places during the first winter because of RSV. We did end up getting a double stroller that the seats laid down in and we were able to put the car seats in the stroller by laying the seats down and then placing the car seats ontop of the seats in the stroller. This was way cheaper for us. We got the stroller at a second hand place for $60.00. My husband would then take my little boy. We mostly did this when we went to the store. We ended up using it once a week. So, if you can get away with the quad stroller I think that you would be ok but you can always look at them.
