Hi all, I haven't posted in probably close to two years here, but I am wondering what multiple parents think about Pamela Druckerman's book Bringing Up Bebe. I am in the midst of reading it, and I do think it is interesting that for most of us, we cannot attend to all three/four/or five children at once so there is naturally a "pause" which should teach children patience. Although admittendly my 3.5 year olds definitely have not acquired the virtue of patience at this time.

I just thought it was kind of an interesting topic and since my kids do not eat fish, unless they are shaped as a stick and deep fried, and are very select on their vegetables, I am wondering what I can learn from other types of parenting.

Take care all!

I haven't read the book, but read "about" the book through interviews with the author and reviews when the book was launched. I thought it was an interesting concept, but ultimately didn't spend the time on reading it or taking it too seriously because it seemed to have a "you're doing it wrong" feel to its message (again, I didn't read the book, so I might be incorrect in my feeling about the book).

There are so many ways to get good results with kids, and so many ways to fail... and we have so many variables with HOMs and a child with an intellectual and physical diasabilities, there isn't a guidebook that will fit me and my family to a "T".

I'm all for considering many different approaches and finding what works for you. My kids also prefer fish with a crumb coating, but I'm ok with that. At least they are eating fish!

I LOOOVED it!! I ended up going on a search for more books about French parenting, and read several others that I liked equally as well.

I really liked French Kids Eat Everything - it was about a lot more than food!

Both these books were written by Americans who were in France for whatever reason. Both were comparing. Negatives were presented as "I couldn't get my kid to sleep", as opposed to saying "you aren't doing it right". Tones like that tend to really grate on my nerves, but these books didn't come across that way.
