We were going in every two weeks for check ups. At week 15 we were 37mm, at week 17 it had dropped to 30. We were a little concerned, but the doctors were fine with it. They put her on pelvic rest, but she kept working at her job.
We were scheduled for another check up at week 19, but she was feeling cramping and stuff about a week before the appointment. I told her to call and talk to someone. They said to come in, and they would see what was going on. Cervix dropped to 10mm in ten days. They admitted her the same day for monitoring. The cramps she was having were contractions.
We met doctors, and discussed our options. We had a cerclage put in the next morning. We are currently at 25 weeks, and cervix is holding steady at 25mm the past 4 weeks. We realize that there is no way of knowing how long it will hold. But I know it is the only reason we made it as far as we have. It was a tough decision to make. The complications and problems you can have with a cerclage can be pretty scary.
They put her on bed rest the day she had the cerclage. We set small goals for ourselves. We wanted to get to 24 weeks, and we have. For us, our next goal is 28 weeks. After that we hope to make 30.
Try not to get down on yourself, and try not to worry too much. There are options.
