When were your staples removed?

They took mine out on the third or fourth day before sending me home. I'm convinced this was too soon. And yes, two years later I'm still upset about how I was treated at that garbage hospital.

Mine stayed in for 2 weeks, but I had a vertical incision, not a horizontal one. I still ended up with a hernia that I had to have repaired when they were a year old.

I had a vertical incision also. I can't remember exactly but I want to say it was about 10 days post c/s. DH, his sister, and I are all RN's so they gave us a staple remover and we did it at home! I wouldn't say it hurt, just felt the pressure/pulling of the staples coming out.

I had c-section on Thursday, and the staples came out on Sunday before discharge. The middle staples were painless, but the end three on either side were shaped like the letter m's. I screamed bloody murder.

I deliverd on Monday and the staples were removed on Saturday, my day of discharge. Mine were only slightly painful as skin had already grown over some of the staples.

C/S was on Tuesday, staples were removed Friday or Saturday? I think maybe Saturday? I felt like it was too soon, also, especially when I fell as soon as I got home & my incision came open a little! ACK!!!!

I had mine removed either on the 2nd or 3rd day. I can't remember but it was before I left the hospital. The nurse removed mine. I had no problems.

I had my babies on a thursday, and they took the staples out on monday before I came home. I didn't have any problems except for some discharge from the left side, a few days afterwards. Kind of gross, but not too horrible! Sorry you're still upset about your situation.

I had my c/s on Tue...the staples came out on Monday. They were a bit painful coming out..but tolerable. They warned me since I was overweight that I might have a harder time healing. I have to say I healed very nice, barely a scar, my only problem now is that my stomach is still abit numb.

C-section 11pm on Thursday night, staples out 9am Monday morning. I thought it was pretty crappy that Thursday counted toward one my days in the hospital after delivery (aren't we guaranteed 96 hours now? shouldn't that mean midnight Monday at the earliest?) and I oozed from my incision for three weeks, until my first baby came home, but the scar itself is barely visible. Quite a waste of fine workmanship, really, because my skin pouch and stretch marks make a nice bikini line completely irrelevant.

Sorry you had a bad experience with your staples,
Parts of my hospitalization still steam me after THREE years,

Happy New Year,

I had my section on a Thursday and they clipped the staples on Monday before I went home. They left the actual staples in and said that they should be left alone to fall out on their own. I thought this was gross but they did fall out with no problem after about 2 weeks. I did have a slight infection on the left side but I don't think that had anything to do with the staples because I had the infection before the staples were clipped.

With both of my c-sections the staples were removed 3 days after on the evening before I was sent home. With my 2nd c section a scab was over one of the staples so it was missed. It wasn't until the scab fell off like 2 weeks later that I even notived the remianing staple. I kept feeling something pull there but figured it was just part of the healing process and wasn't going to pull at the scab. But it just took a quick trip to the Dr to get it removed. (ok lets all laugh at the term quick used with 2 year old triplets and a newborn in tow LOL). I never had any pain with any of my staples being removed.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experiance at your hosptial. It is awful when what should be the best memories of your life are shadowed with bad feeling.

My first c-section was done on a Friday morning and the staples were taken out Monday morning before my discharge. No problems at all...all the other stiches just disappeared I had a horizontal c-section and hope they can open up the same scar with the triplets. And, since I have a reallllyyyy bumpy scar, I am going to request that a plastic surgeon sew my top layer up this time with a little more care.
