I started a new thread so that you wouldn't have to deal with the annoying very l--o--n--g text that happened when I put a very long web site address on here .
Good for you !!!
Did the dr only order the IgA test ? From what I know about it, you can have a relatively high false negative result with just that test alone because an IgA defficiency is pretty common, and therefore making the falsely low IgA result appear negative KWIM ?

My kids never had any luck with miralax, especially as a 'clean out' rx, and only as a long term maintanence kind of thing. I hope she gets cleaned out soon, I know how miserable my kids were with chronic constipation . What our GI dr has usually done is be much more aggressive with the cleaning out phase when they were really backed up, then did a maintenace phase.
Our GI dr has a web site www.rmpgi.com that may have some good info for you ? I haven't seen it in a while, and don't really need the info on there because we are there so often !

The IgA was the only test he ordered. Well, if it comes back negative , I'll question him about that. We have a follow-up appointment in August to see where we are constipation-wise. Robin pooped today-she had the miralax last night and again today. She still has alot inher, I'm sure and she still says her tummy hurts.
My DS got ahold of Abby's miralax-laced milk last night! Won't be the first or last time he's done that! LOL! Just too much poop to deal with these days! (Especially if I include the ex-DH....) thanks again.

Did you request that the dr do all of these tests ?
Are these the tests he didn't know about ? Or was he not aware of the genetic marker test ?

from prometheus' web site:
* Celiac Disease Serology markers include:
o Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA
o Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG
o Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA
o Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG)
o Total Serum IgA

It is really scary how little most **GI** (the experts-ha) drs know about gluten intolerance/celiac disease !! Not to mention the family practitioners.
Has the the miralax ever helped get her totally cleaned out ? Has your dr ever order abdominal x-rays ? Have you ever asked for/been offered something stronger to try ? What does the GI dr think is the cause of the constipation ? Did he not know that diarrhea OR constipation can be signs of celiac ? Have any other tests ever been ordered-upper or lower GI, motility studies ?

LOL! He's going to get an earful when he calls with the test results! He kept saying celiac is characterized by diarrhea-never mentioned the constipation- but I already knew that from youand the websites you sent. Abby had swallowed a metal/enamal star shaped charm back in Augaust last year and she ahd 2 x-rays then (well 3 ) to track it. The night she swallowed it,it passed thru her stomach in about 2-3 hours-we sat in the ER waiting room a long time... a week later, we went back for an x-ray to see where it was and it was still in the same spot!! Just outside the stomach inthat little curve. It took a month to come out. We never found it in her diapers and believe me, we looked... (gross) But at the 3rd x-ray 30 days post -swallow,LOL,it was gone. No one mentioned alot of poop in her at any of those x-rays but I gave her laxatives for a couple of weeks to help the star along.
I'm not sure if she's ever been totally cleaned out. In the NICU she took a month to pass her first meconium. They were going to do an upper GI series on her that day but she pooped. So they cancelled the test. And ever since then, she has needed help to poop. For awhile, it was all the iron she was getting from poly-vi-sol and fortifying her EBM with formula and thickening it with cereal... and she does somewhat better in the warmer months when she drinkd more water, juice, lemonade and eats more fruit. But I don' tknow that she's ever "empty."
A good frien dof mine with g/g/b trips uses the DRs we went to see-her DS has a fundo and g-tube and she didn't have any complimentary things to say about these DRs. If the DR isn't willing to work with me and put up with me possibly having more knowledge tha nhe on the topic, then I will be looking for a new GI Dr Besides, his office won't take Abby's medicaid...}>
Actually, looking at the orders,I think he also ordered the tTG test. WEll, I will ask when they call me. I will not be speaking to some office flunkie either-I will demand they put the DR on to explain it all to me...
Thanks!

Korrie~
