#3208, "Wondering if someone can help me about a chair"

Okay preston has therpey today and I was talking to his therpist about getting a chair for him which they have mentioned before. He is doing better but his trunk is still weak so when he is in the highchair for to long of a time he slouches. Actually he is not in it that long. He told me the name of one and i can not remember it. I was wondering if anyone would have an idea of what it could be. Ok he said the chair sits on a base and it would adjust to fit preston and his needs. Then he said it could go from the base to like a stroller base or whatever. That way when we are going to places like akron or something and he needs to be positoned better we could use it for that. Also said it has a tray on it we are wantinig it also so he can start using his hands more to play and feed himself. It seems like everytime he uses his arms when he is sitting up he loses his balance or whatever and they said it was because of his trunk being weak still. Any ideas

Jaclyn -

Try looking at http://www.adaptivemall.com/ From your description I'd guess they are talking about the Tiger system.

Noah never had anything like that but he could have used it. We just used a high chair (with swim noodles to hold him up) for years. Luckily he was small for his age for a long time.

They could be talking about the KidKart. Does that sound familiar??
The link below is pretty simialr to what Connor has. The seat is made to specially fit the person using it. The frame folds down very easy and compact.

ETA- This comes with a chest strap and a lap strap that will help hold him up and keep is body in a good position.

I talked to his therpist today and i thought he called it the kimi system or something like that. I got to see one today do to a patient that was their had one and they let us look at it. I guess they are going to see if we can get a loaner to try out and then they will order us one.
Do you guys know any other sites to look at for some special needs products. I need something for the bath tub for him. we are still using the baby bath and he is way to big for it. He can't sit up i tried one the highchairs that go on chairs but he didn't like it. I can not lay him flat cause he has tubes in his ears and i can not find anything to plug his ears with.
thanks,
jaclyn

My son has an OttoBock KIMBA. It is a wheelchair that does come with different bases, and has a table that comes with it.

I'm not sure about how involved your son is with his disability, but Ottobock also makes a bath chair. I can't tell you how nice it was to get a bath seat. I don't have the ottobock one, but I have one that is raised in the tub a few inches, and I fill the tub with water so he can actually feel the water.

You can also check out the ABILITATIONS website, or RIFTON website.
