#3220, "Toe walker"

Mine are 5 ready to begin Kindergerten. Finally got dd in dafo braces about 1 year ago- pronated feet. Since she is starting school we took off the calf shield and she is just wearing it to the ankle. If she is not wearing her braces she will toe walk. Barefoot around the house-yep, on her toes.
Anyway she will outgrow this or is there something else I can do to make it stop, besides surgery. We have not been great about wearing the braces because w have been home all day- which is about to change. Thanks for any ideas

My son was a toe walker. We took him to 3 different Orth. Surg. and they gave me 3 diff. answers. One recomended Orth boots. We did that for a few months when he was 2. Then other recommended Therapy, we did that for a few months also. Then the Third said that it was just a bad habit and we just had to tell him to walk on his heels. He is 6 now and he ocasionally walks on his toes, we just remind him every once in a while to walk on his heels and he does. Just had to retrain the brain.

Thnaks for the reply. I just bought the girls school shoes and I went ahead and bought 2 pairs for my toe walker. I am worried that she will not want to wear the braces and chunky shoes to school so I went ahead and got her "school shoes" too. I am constantly telling her to get off her toes. It seems to be getting better
