#3311, "hand flapping"

One of my trio will waves his hands when excited to see his Dad come home or when i put a song and i was wondering is thi sis normal behavior at this age..he has good eye contact, the most social among the 3 but blabbers the most than saying any word yet.....

I know hand flapping is a red flag for autism but does that have to come with other symptoms too??????

I have two "flappers". One is on the spectrum and the other isn't. Actually, the one that did the flapping first is the one not on the spectrum. She also was a late talker but she apparently is just quirky. Both have sensory issues and that may be the cause of their flapping. But they also are decreasing in the amount of flapping they do. If you are worried about your son you should talk to your pedi and see if he/she thinks you should get an evaluation.
