#3906, "My girl is bitting others at night time"

Hi - I have not posted on this portion of the site yet. My daughter was just diagnosed with autism about 2 months ago. I just recently changed their cribs into toddler beds. However, if my daughter gets too upset and isn't ready to fall asleep, she bites her siblings. We don't have the space to put her in another room.

Any ideas / suggestions? I don't want my other two to be afraid of her. She is high functioning and this is my only real issue with her right now. How do you get an autistic child to not bite?

Thanks,
Alicia

Hmmm, I don't have much knowledge on autism, but do you think she realizes that when she bites them it hurts? My son bites when he is playing because he gets excited. He doesn't know it hurts the person that he bits. He has hearing loss and can't hear when someone yelps in pain, so he keeps on biting. We are slowly working with him to show him it hurts the person he bites.
