#3974, " Nissen fundoplication"

I found out that Brennan needs to get a Nissen fundoplication on Monday because of the results of his upper GI and swallow study. They usually do it when the put in a G tube but opted not to do because he did not need one at the time.

Anyone here have this done? What can I expect? I am really nervous about this procedure because I have heard that some people can die from complications. Thanks.

Emma had a nissen and a gtube placed (sometimes this is a good idea anyway to allow for the escape of gas, etc.)

It was not a difficult procedure for them to perform but it took a bit of recovery on Emma's part. About 5 days in the hospital. They got behind the pain so make sure they are up on that regularly with meds/etc.

It made a huge difference with Emma's vomiting, etc. So I think it was worth it to have it done.
