#4096, "GFCF diet"

2 of my trio(PDD-NOS) and I was thinkin to put them on GFCF diet but i have no clue on how to start. They r NOT picky eaters and have no gut issues so i keep wonderin if the diet will help them or not......do i need to see a doc/nutrition spec for the diet???

Hopin to get some info from Moms who have been successful with this diet.

Hello! My whole family is on the GF/CF diet and have been for 10 months now. It is has changed our lives...for the better!

A good friend of mine wrote a post on our blog on how to get started on a GF/CF diet. I thought you might be interested in reading it: http://friendinreach.blogspot.com/2009/03/where-do-i-begin-gf-cf-sf-allergy-free.html

You can always contact me at: friendinreach@aol.com with any questions too. It is a hard diet to get a hold of at first but don't get discouraged. You can make it work. It is GREAT your kids are not picky eaters...this will make life easier for you.

Take care,

Alicia

I've been thinking about trying this diet with my 4 year old. I would also be interested in talking with other moms about it.

We are doing this for one of our trio. It's tough, to be sure. It requires planning and makes going out to restaurants or parties even harder than it already is with three. However, like most things, it gets easier the more you do it and now it's not so bad.

Look for gluten-free bakeries in your area, the ones in our area also offer some dairy and gluten free options.

Join support groups in your areas.

Start with the more expensive prepared foods as a base, and then start trying different recipes so you aren't pressured with learning how to cook EVERYTHING all at once. You'll need to learn new ways of cooking and some recipes won't turn out without some tweaking.

Good luck!
