#4159, "Any one offer me advice???/CROSSPOST"
Mon Feb-23-09 06:21 PM by Mama2five

he had his ei assessment today. i am not feeling well, so sorry if this is choppy. they test using the battelle II? I think that was the name. anyway he tested out of PT for gross motor, which we knew. the reason why we got EI when he was 4 months old to begin with was due to a diagnoses of torticolis. he already tested into it.

they did the whole assessment over again. i knew he was behind, but the results left even me breathless. fine motor skills he tested at a 3. Average is 100. He tests at 9 months old for fine motor skills. for the language & expressive parts he scored a 1 & a 2 respectively, again average is 100. They said that his language is that of a 5 month old baby, and he turned 13 months old today. He is slow to progress in almost every area.

I knew this in my mind, but hearing it from a professional was kind a kick in the gut. She says that she can almost guarantee that autism will be completely ruled out because he is to happy and social. He interacts and makes very nice eye contact, and loves to be held....unfortunately, he could careless by whom. He never developed anxiety like most other kids do. Laney and Addie freak at strangers, but Joel goes to anyone.

My heart is just breaking for him, and I am a little stressed out. I have 5 kids and they are all here at home, and now I will have THREE freaking therapists in my house a WEEK between Joel and Adds. I am so stressed, and my hair is graying by the minute.

If anyone has done this before, i would love to hear any and all stories.
