#4202, "stopping EI services after age3"

My boys have been dx with PDD_NOS at age 16 mths and now doing gr8 getting ABA/OT/ST... ...but soon all services will stop once they turn 3 yrs. I tried to get them continue RCEB but according to pysch eval there they show signs of mild borderline PDD-NOS so no way we will get the services continued. with this I am expecting no services or maybe the very minimal services offered also by SD(have'nt had the eval yet)........

My sons have improved a lot (one has been speech appropriate with age now) so I fear they might regress back though the doc at RCEB says she has'nt seen anyone regressing after age3.....any suggestions or info on this???

thanks for all the support
love to ur kids

I don't understand why your services would stop. If they have ABA now, isn't there post-intensive therapy? That's what we have in WI and that's even better than ABA!

Aside from that, once they are out of B-3, they go into the school system and early childhood picks them up. I think you have gotten some misinformation and you need to check it out.

My daughter wasn't diagnosed with PDD-NOS until she was 5.5 years old (and is now 7 and just about to start ABA). But before that she got speach, ot, pt from the school starting at age 3. she rode the bus 3 days a week and her day was 3 hrs at school. check it out. I bet you have the same.

They should be leaving that system and be rolled over into the school districts Early Childhood program.......you should ask about this, there are programs out there. I am not sure what state you are in or what that state offers, but here in Illinois my trio are turnning 3 in august and are getting tested this June for upcomming school year for free preschool where they will also recieve thier special services. I was also told hat many of the local preschools offer thier own programs, so perhaps call around and see what you can find out. Also, my case worker informed me that if they are already getting services then they automaticly get moved into the school district, still have to test becasue it is a part of the process, but we should be prepared for them to start this fall. SO, make tons of phone calls and see what is out there, there has to something!! good luck
