#4269, "Nervous.....home visit with preschool teacher tomorrow"

Hi. Hope everyone is having a good start to the school year. Our school district is starting super late this year and the preschool teachers are just finally coming out for the home visits, ours is tomorrow am.
I decided to put all 3 girls in the Universal PreK this year and not in the special ed/typical combo class. For many reasons I just didn't feel that the sp ed class was the right fit for my daughter on the spectrum (PDD-NOS), mostly the fact that the girls will be 5 in October and over half the class was 3. She just really needs same age or older typical peers as models and not younger kids. So.....here we are about to start the year and I am nervous about the decision. I am really hopeful her teacher is patient and willing to work with us a bit to see how this will go. If its a good fit I know she will really soar. Please send some extra prayers our way if you get a chance. Thanks!!

Katie

Katie, I will be praying for you and your daughters!
I hope you don't mind me saying it but I feel you made the right decision. My little one with PDD models the behavior of the other kids and she also needs kids her same age because of this. She is really doing well in kindergarten even thought I was nervous about her moving on from PreK. She comes home talking more and all my girls are maturing more from being around other same age kids. She really thrives on routine so I can tell she gets a little out of sorts if they change things up on her but other than that, she needs the push of other kids to accelerate in areas.
Best of luck, I hope you get a great teacher!!
