#4379, "Bad News - 18 week Scan - Triplets (2 girls & 1 boy)"

We found out today that everything isn't fine with the babies ;o(
The doctors have found some possible abnormalities with the two girls back bones and they won't know more for two weeks.
It appears the bottom end of their spine near the coccyx hasn't calcified/formed properly... Each baby has its own sack but they think that the girls may be identical and that the egg split early on.... The disorder starts with an S and is a really long word but we can't remember what it's called! GRRR...

We are going to take the approach that everything is fine etc until we know more therefore not telling anyone.... but of course everything will be better in two weeks and we were worrying about nothing...

I wish I know more, the next two weeks are going to feel like two years

Please pray for us!

Has anyone had any similar experiences??? or able to offer any information??

Thank you
Leah

Leah,

You should post this on the main forum; you'll get more readers and hopefully someone that can chime in. Weekends are quiet around here so you might want to re-post on Monday.

I rarely read this forum; just happened to be browsing tonight. When we were about as far along as you, they found some 'spots' on the brain of our baby B. Same thing: wouldn't know more until the next ultrasound, but I remember the wait being a little unnerving to say the least. It all turned out fine; the spots disappeared by the next scan.

I'll say some prayers for your little peanuts. Remember: faith, not fear!

Ellyn and the lucky 13!

I'm sorry you are having to go through this. I think doctors shouldn't be allowed to make you wait.
I think you might be talking about Spina bifida. I know that there are MoM's here that have gone through this but as a pp said,
putting it on the main forum will probably get you more responses.
I too will pray that everything will be fine.
Good Luck and Congratulations!

Leah---

HAve you heard anything more on the girls? My prayers are with you that all will be ok.....Keep the faith.... They told me all along that my daughter would not make it through the pregnancy and that she would compromise the health of her two brothers.... Every dr's visit we heard the same bad news.... The reality....they are now 7 months old....all three made it and they are all healthy! Keep the faith....
