Tyler had his play assessment today at Children's Hospital center for autism. Overall, I am encouraged. The doctor commented on a number of good things he was doing, at least one of which she said most kids that come in there do not do. He was a charmer, of course, and she really enjoyed the prayers he said when he put the doll to bed. The bottom line, as we understood it from her (and this is before a visit with the doctor who will put together all the results from both tests) was that while he has some fairly signficant language delays, he does not immediately strike her as autistic. She is not the one who makes the diagnosis and still allowed for the possility of him being on the low end of that scale, but we were encouraged by what she said. She does feel that the preschool would be beneficial to him and feels he will qualify on speech alone. The speech therapist is coming Wednesday to do that, so we will see what she says.

Sonya, I'm glad that it went well for you guys. Sounds like Tyler is a charmer. That's so cute he would pray when he put the baby to bed! Sounds encouraging, and hopefully with a great preschool set up with lots of focus on speech he will have a great year! Thanks for the update.
